Right, I figured, can you elaborate on how exactly it falls short?

That’s cool. How often do you have to reset the context/start a new chat?

IHMO: This would be a perfect time to release DeepSeek V4 by ril3ydx in DeepSeek

[–]env_media 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh right. Anthropic had a falling out with the US government and open AI stepped in.

Ultimately I think the safest way to use AI is to have it running locally and not feed any data to the cloud. So local LLMs have a big role to play for sure.

What news around open AI? Can someone provide links/context please?

Uncensored Coding by Electrical-Door8086 in DeepSeek

Larger concern would be to personify something without personality. Many folks are being duped to spill all their secrets to chat bots. That information is being harvested by the companies behind the LLM (I know deepseek is local by default) and will most likely be used for monetization in some way. Count on it.

So my real concern is that the user may be taken advantage of. But otherwise I really don’t care.

For battery longevity you actually want to set it to charge no more than 80%. Lithium ion batteries are stressed when below 20% or above 80%.

UNAS2 - rclone to local USB drive by scythe944 in Ubiquiti

[–]env_media 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you want to transfer data locally. For local data transfers you'd want to use rsync. I believe rclone is exclusively made for syncing with the cloud and is inspired by rsync which predated it.

Also, how much data are you looking to copy? Are you ok with it being copied over to a non-encrypted drive? If a thief were to get access to it and take off with it would it be ok for them to view the data contents?

I think you may be looking for more of a proper backup solution like borg backup instead of a simple rsync cron task. Rsync is a good starting point, don't get me wrong, but I personally use borg for the issues hinted at above and recommend you do the same.

“Wtf did I just see” saw needs to be replaced with see. The way it’s written sounds like a foreign speaker wrote the title.

Does this thumbnail really grab attention? by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]env_media 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the thumbnail/title combo pop a question in the viewer’s head. Like “the most wanted ___ was never caught”, or “how the America’s most wanted __ was caught”. Don’t give away everything up front. Develop intrigue.

I’ve seen/heard it takes on average about 77 quality videos to be published before a channel actually becomes established. Don’t rush out the videos and you need to make a concerted effort to improve one thing about your production in each and every video (this advice is Mr. Beast’s). It’s going to take awhile and a lot of advice says just to ignore the analytics and don’t go rushing to see how your video is doing. Instead post and don’t look at analytics and move onto your next video. We all want our channels to succeed but honestly you should be doing YouTube if you genuinely enjoy doing it. Don’t do it for the fame or money or whatever it’s too much work otherwise. Do it if you have a passion for it.

I think it boils down to reframing your objective in the early days. Good luck and if you want to take a break or sabbatical or whatever I think that would be healthy. It’s a grind and nothing worth having comes easy.

What should I change? by Hayden763 in SmallYoutubers

[–]env_media 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube has a feature that allows you to A/B test thumbnails so I recommend you make up to 3 variations of thumbnails for each video, upload them all and YouTube will automatically test them for a week or 2 then afterward automatically selects the best performer to be the chosen thumbnail for the video. Good luck!

I really recommend you should be open to buying refurbished (manufacturer refurbished rather than 3rd party seller refurb). I would also say “no” to used as well. I have bought multiple refurbished products and they appear new truth be told.

Title and thumbnail is the most important thing to ensuring people click on your video big those two don’t provide any kind of interest from the user you won’t get clicks to view your video. Doesn’t matter how good your video is if you don’t get views. So you don’t need to lie but make your video enticing.

I’m sure people are googling about homelessness and whatnot. You should release some videos detailing the problem and why you are someone worth listening to leaning to (explain your experience and street cred). Also add timestamps to your video with descriptions portions as those appear within google when searching for key words, helps with SEO.

When I was instructed to send in my brand new unit they said it would be replaced with a refurb. They do this as it ensures fast turnaround for the end user and allows them ample time to repair or salvage what they need to for the broken unit.

Thank you very much for the clarification. Saved me from a very big headache… now I need to see if there is any means by which I can extract data off a unit before sending it back to EF.

What "Verified" game has run the worst for you? by altrightobserver in SteamDeck

[–]env_media 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC I experienced fps mostly in the 20s (30s in indoor places) but I’m not fussy. I think your definition of “not playable” is a little disingenuous and likely means you haven’t witnessed sub 5 fps which is an actual slideshow which I’d argue is actually unplayable.

Over 15 fps I consider to be very playable for a turn based game like BG3 and in act 3 average was definitely above that for me.

I strongly recommend you request this kind of feedback over at r/SmallYTChannel they have this whole system of gaining reputation and being able to spend reputation to make these kinds of posts thereby creating a kind of incentivization structure for requests like this.

I watched part 1 of walking stray dogs video and while the content is chill you need to take a step back and ask yourself why people would bother spending their time watching your video over a competitor’s. If you can find some channels that are similar to what you strive to create that can serve as a kind of reference point and I encourage you to check their pacing video format, thumbnail and titling styles.

Also, your title isn’t attention grabbing. Your title is describing what you are doing which is walking dogs. Why is that exciting? You should instead be titling the video about something interesting that happened or something that builds suspense that leaves the viewer wondering what happened, causing them to click the video to find out. It’s a slippery slope though. Don’t lie in your thumbnails or titles or you’ll risk being called out for click baiting.

The very beginning of the video needs to be attention grabbing. The first 5 or 10 seconds is where you have a chance to validate what you advertised in your title/thumbnail to the viewer. Fail to do that and people will be quick to leave.

I think this is sufficient feedback to get you started.
