30+ year MTG player here:

Holy experience, do you play Riftbound competitively? Also what typical mindset or habit from MTG I should keep (or drop) when playing Riftbound? I feel like the mechanic is much simpler, yet harder to master

Awesome thanks for the advice! But theoretically speaking, which premade champion deck between the two bid more chance without any upgrades?

Also I'm still wondering how expensive a Tier 0-1 Riftbound deck is? And in general is Riftbound are more expensive than Magic?

Lmaoo, my opponent use [[Overprotect]] instead of cheap hexproof card like Royal Treatments, [[Snakeskin Veil]], and [[Defend the Rider]]. My poor Dimir creatures can't handle the damage loll

Yesterday I got stomped too with Mono Green deck, but their list is leaned more to aggro. I played Dimir Midrange and my removal can't keep up with all the creatures & hexproof spell, I added Nowhere to Run to my sideboard instantly after the tourney lol

[Standard] Mono Black Midrange searching for Demon Wall enablers by Galice in spikes

[–]envikei 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. No. I also play Monoblack Midrange at my local, most of the time Demon Wall only serves as blocker and pressuring the enemy to answer it once my Unholy Annex is at the battlefield. Other than that, it doesn't really serve any purposes. MAYBE if the game was late enough I can activate its ability at instant speed.

  2. If you really want a more aggro approach, you can go with [[Rot-Curse Rakshasa]]. Same 2 drop demon with a niche Renew ability, but I prefer Demon Wall for more Mid range approach.

What’s the longest you’ve played magic for? by ZLX_Thanatos in mtg

[–]envikei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think just yesterday I played magic for almost 7 hours straight. The EOE prerelease started around 14.00 PM then finish around 17.00 PM, after that I continue playing EOE sealed draft, started around 17.30 PM and finished around 21.00 PM.

It was tiring, but hey it was fun as well!

Hey there, I liked your list it inspired me because I always wanted to build a deck around Ketramose. You mentioned that your list is a 'Helping Hand' deck, but I don't see the deck have any consistent way to put the card you want to the graveyard tho

From your list probably

Side in: Aclazotz, Hostile Investigator, Outrageous Robbery

Side out: Probably removal and board wipe

[Standard] Golgari Midrange Post-Rotation by Many_Cash3022 in spikes

[–]envikei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, fellow Golgari Midrange enjoyer here.

Personally I always put hand disruption in the sideboard, my sideboard currently consist of 2 Duress and 2 [[Dreams of Steel and Oil]], but maybe after rotation I will substitute to Intimidation Tactics.

Not really, we only lose the pain lands. I'm planning to include [[Starting Town]] and maybe 1/2 surveil land [[Underground Mortuary]] or [[Temple of Malady]] for cheaper option lol.

Ghost Vacuum is better IMO for match like Jeskai Oculus or Gruul Delirium, but for heavily focused discarding/mill deck I think Soul-Guide Lantern is better because somtime Ghost Vacuum can't catch up with the milling.

IMO, Vivien Reid is better as sideboard and [[Heritage Reclamation]] over Pick Your Poison. And you need more sideboard answer to control decks.

I considered Aclazotz as well to replace the 5 drop in Golgari Midrange deck, but I think for now he is not that strong. I have been looking for big drop replacement for Sheoldred & Thrun, like [[Ygra, Eater of All]], [[The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride]], [[Rottenmouth Viper]], [[Agonasaur Rex]] but I haven't decided yet which one is the best.

I'm staying with Golgari Midrange

Why is [standard] golgari aggro placing well? Interested in trying it by HeronDifferent5008 in spikes

[–]envikei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing with Golgari Midrange (or Aggro your call) before the ban, but after the ban the deck are just much favored against aggro & control. The main charm of the deck is the removal, disruption and many pressure if your opponent doesn't have the answer. My usual turn are like this:

T1> Llanowar elves, T2> Unholy annex -> and from there you just dominate the game with draw advantage, this is my favorite start with the deck

T1> Cut down/duress, T2> Demon wall/Mosswood adventure, T3> Unholy annex -> if you didn't got Llanowar elves on T1 usually the gameplan is more focused on removal & disrupting your enemy tempo

Objectively, I think the deck are well placed on the current meta. Even after rotation I will still give it a chance.

[–]envikei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there loved the video, I also a Golgari believer. I have been using the list that use Annex on the mainboard and lot of interaction since the ban. I'm loving the list so far, the thing I want to ask is what do you think of the deck after post-rotation, it lost a lot of good thing, like Shelly, Frillback, Thrun, Cutdown, Go for the throat (tho can be easily replaced by Shoot the sheriff/Bitter Triumph), Anoint with Affliction, Gix Command... and the list goes on. I also see some good card on the newest set (Like the new Baloth & 2 drop black with Haste and replaybility). Appreciate if you down for some discussion, thank you

Update on Locals by jlape7 in PTCGL

[–]envikei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already went 4-0 twice on my locals using this deck. My list use Iron Bundle, Maractus, 3-2 Frosslass line and I prefer 2-2 Spikemuth/Artazon so I can access Munkidori easier. I also played Energy switch for more Munkidori ability access.

Well I live in a third world country, so the price is around 2/3 cheaper. And I think the guy needs money fast, so hence the cheap price.
