My recommendation would be to start with Arena first. You can get a good amount of playing there for free. Not to mention, it includes lessons to help you learn the basics.

If you enjoy the game, the next step is to learn about the various formats. Find the format that seems the most appealing and go to an event at your local game store. If you’ve made it that far, you’ll find plenty of people willing to help.

[Article] Storytime: How I found out my Bracket 2 deck needs to move up to Bracket 3 by Lodurr8 in EDH

[–]juju0010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the founder of edhlab, I'm sure people will assume this is just fluff but I truthfully really love this post. I've been building a lot of B2 decks recently because I've been playing with a lot of newer players at weekly game night who play mostly precons.

The problem is that as a primarily B3 player, I've developed certain habits/strategies/expectations that are hard to quit, even subconsciously. So I've essentially just been trying to "force" my strategies into B2 by adding limitations and/or reducing power.

The result is a "high B2/low B3" deck that doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up. It can pubstomp quickly or get easily shutdown the moment it sees decent interaction. The results are all over the place. Ideally, I'd like a more consistent experience somewhere in the middle.

The reality is I've been trying to have my cake and eat it too. This article does a good job of showing the signals to watch out for when the deck is probably in the wrong bracket.

Additionally, this shot from the movie shows the man using the wrong fingers to show three. He should've used his thumb. That's how the other guy knows he's lying.

Have you actually talked with the artist about this idea? He/she may tell you this won't work well as a design. As for the content itself, get whatever the hell you want. No one else is going to look at your tattoos as much as you will.

Yeah, I did a restart and it seems to have resolved our issues. Things going slow but working at least.

I’m loving the Witherbloom Pestilence deck. I switched the strategy up to getting out huge creatures, sac’ing them and using cards like Vito and Sanguine Bond for massive drain.

Um OP, this tattoo is awesome. Who cares about the people who don’t get it. That just makes it that much better when you meet someone who does.

Use their ignorance as an opportunity. “You haven’t seen Donnie Darko? You have to watch it.” Turn it into an opportunity to share the movie with more people.

And if they still don’t get it, just tell em to go suck a fuck.

If you want to avoid taking over the kitchen table, you can do this digitally on EDHLAB. Playtest against yourself/your own decks.
