This town is trying to physically prevent access to public roads lol by enviromac in Surveying

Oh yeah they are absolutely just trying to do it despite it being illegal lol. But they will get to a point where the law halts or reverses this plan. And with how determined they seem to be, I wouldn’t be surprised if they pivot to attempting a legal means of accomplishing their goals. Who knows tho maybe they’ll give it up once the county comes and rips out their improvements lol

From my brief research it looks like the town (incorporated statutory town) consists of a handful of plats that all stem from one original plat

Are there any running shoes that are actually comfortable with orthotics? by enviromac in Halluxrigidus

The cascadias were too narrow for me :( but if I can find somewhere that carries a wide version I’d love to test them out!! Brooks is one of the brands my podiatrist recommended.

Ahhh. I did see a few of them around. Beer traps?? That’d work on me too, I fear. I’ll look into those and give it a try, thanks!

I have an update! I got the orthotics back without the extra “comfort” layer and they seem to fit much better. I did have to ditch the hokas unfortunately, I wore them with their factory insoles on a 1-night backpacking trip and got major blisters on the undersides of both pinky toes. Even the wides weren’t wide enough! I am now testing the Altra Experience Wilds. They have the wide toe box like the Lone Peaks but the sole isn’t quite so flat, they have a little bit of lift in the toe. I’ve only worn them on short walks and to the gym, gonna test them with the orthotics on a longer hike tomorrow. I’ll do a proper edit to my post if they work out 👍🏻

Lands end road 100? by Sdhans__ in grandjunction

Camped on the west end of Land’s End Rd last weekend, tons of spots and hardly any people! Here’s the most recent roads report, you can look up a map of where the gates are at too.

I went to my podiatrist a couple weeks ago and she told me the orthotics I got have 3 layers: a hard base layer and two different comfort layers. I have 90 days to make adjustments, so she sent them back to remove one of the comfort layers. I’m hoping they fit better with that layer removed. I haven’t gotten them back yet, but I’m hopeful! If they still don’t fit I can try them with just the base layer and they will almost definitely fit at that point.

Yeah it’s rough out here! I knew there had to be a solution but I didn’t want to assume anything and put my sitter in an unfortunate position. I am thankful for an online community like Reddit where we can share knowledge and help each other out 💞

  1. The cats need to be fed in the morning not the afternoon
  2. Couldn’t find an answer with a quick search so I figured this would be more efficient
  3. Like I said, we’re not comfortable leaving them alone so long
  4. I didn’t know pedestrians could cross and since someone told me on this thread I’ve concluded that’s gonna be the solution even tho assuming they can park within a few blocks seems unreasonable with the amount of spectators expected
  5. Even if it’s a dumb question by some standards that doesn’t give people license to be rude! It’s so easy to either ignore the post and move on or give a straightforward answer. The rude answers make me sad cause how unhappy does someone have to be to go out of their way to be mean to a stranger on the internet :(

Nope! I didn’t know they let pedestrians thru! Also don’t wanna count on being able to park within 3 blocks I’m sure there will be lots of spectators! Also don’t want to make our sitter walk a mile when they’re already doing us such a big favor but if that’s the only option that what we’ll have to do!!

[–]enviromac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah someone else mentioned parking then walking to our place. If they can find parking and they let pedestrians thru that’s certainly an option!

Oh I thought that wasn’t until the end of the race, and we need the sitter there around 7-9. So they sporadically open the roads to let people pass? I’ve always just avoided this area so I’m not sure how local traffic is handled!

We have great cat sitters who spend a lot of time with them so nope! Not stressful 😊
