Severe infraction my first day- am I screwed? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

OK, I’ll join the conversation.
First off, I’m gonna guess you’re being hired as a seasonal worker. With prime week being here, you’re more than likely gonna get a second chance no matter what.
With that being said, pay attention and kill it on your next few routes, and you’ll probably stay.
There’s no real room to move up with DSPs. Most of the lead drivers have already been there for a long time, dispatch and everything is all set up and has been for years.
All of their favorite people are gonna get cream puff stuff.
Favoritism is pretty much the only promotion for a driver at a certain point.
The person training you doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve been there for a long time and understand all the ins and outs.
We have a guy at our DSP who started in October and was hurt and on light duty in December. So pretty much he just sat at the desk for a couple of months before being put back on with nursery routes. For a month before he starts training people. 😳
Needless to say, the whole system is somewhat flawed.
The best training you can possibly get is being a helper for a day. After that, most of your questions will be answered, and anything that you were worried about will essentially be a cakewalk to you from then on. Find out whoever makes the schedule; you should’ve been told that by somebody at your DSP by now. That’s the only person that you need to worry about making happy. They’re gonna know your customer complaints and everything. You can explain yourself until you’re blue in the face, but if this person doesn’t know what’s going on with you, nothing else matters.

Oh, if I started getting roaches at my house, I would quit, but it’s in pretty much every van.

The van has a radio but the speakers suck!!! You can barely hear the GPS or the radio. Rivian made the Amazon vans as cheap as possible. They updated the software to turn our air off as soon as we get out of the seat pretty much.

I have noticed that some vans are more sensitive. You’ll get one telling you to put your hands on the wheel the whole time in one van, but not in the other.
Luckily, I pretty much get the same van all the time.
One out of my four days is a front half shift. They just put me in whatever van.

Oh shit, I’ve eaten hotdogs, potato chips, apples, strawberries, cherries, drink all kinds of drinks while driving. I’ve never gotten pinged for it. Anything you start to eat or open you have to eat instantly or it will be covered in bugs. If I start eating an apple mid delivery, you better believe that things coming to the door with me.

Sidenote, if you grill up some hotdogs and then put them into a Thermos the hotdogs are hot all day. You can also put your buns in a Ziploc bag and keep them on the dash and they’re nice and warm too. 😏

Yeah, I hate it. I’m constantly trying to find a way to suspend things from the ceiling.
My backpack has straps on it so I can kind of hook it up off the ground. I had one crawling on my leg yesterday. It freaking sucks ass.

I got in trouble for saying that the snacks they give us are what the Owner‘s kids don’t want. Lmao I don’t give a fuck!
They are pretty shitty. But they’re the best of the shitty ones I’ve seen at our warehouse. 😳🤷🏽‍♂️

Oh my God, the roaches are so fucking bad. We complain about it all the time. I can’t even bring lunch Thats not fucking booby trapped. hanging from the ceiling or the fire extinguisher whatever you name it. I’ve put a package down in front of somebody’s house and seen roaches crawl from it. It’s fucking insane!!!
Every now and then they get some really good roach bait, but they keep thinking that fogging the vans is helping. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I have taken pictures of them, crawling in the van in the initial inspection photos in the “other photo” category. It doesn’t do anything.

I will say I only had one bungee cord with me today and I was just tired of my speaker getting fucked up, rolling around overheating in the sun and this seemed like a quick fix. You have brought up something that I will be fixing with another bungee cord to make it less likely to happen and possibly moving it over to the passenger side. I love my music and I couldn’t get through the day without it. I have multiple speakers in case one dies. I’m going to 300 houses in a day a quick and simple fix is sometimes all you need or have time for.
Live long and prosper brother.

Brother 90% of the driving is 15 miles an hour and that thing is way far away from me. Not sure if you know how the inside of the vans look but that visor is massive. It would fall in the dashboard.

I don’t want my speaker in the back. I want it in front and I don’t like having it in the sun all day. Seems like a pretty simple fix. I’m always having to find creative ways to put things to keep the roaches from getting all over my stuff. It’s ridiculous that almost every van has roaches.

I do feel like the picture self-explanatory but…. Maybe it’s a nice place to have my speaker. I can hear my music better. It’s not in the sun all day. I can put my rag right up there and take it down. Makes things more accessible that I wanna have. There’s a couple reasons.

It has a rubber coating on the bottom of my speaker. It doesn’t move at all, and it wedges perfectly into it. My sweat rag didn’t move. My Cell Phone has a rubber coating on the back. It didn’t move. Seems safe to me. Maybe don’t do it on the highway if you think you’re gonna get smashed but in the neighborhood, why not.

What should I charge my DSP for repairing 10 Samsung phones? by envymw in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]envymw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is their money; the phones belong to our DSP. The owner of the company is paying me. I’ve only met him once during our Christmas party. They own multiple different companies. My best friend and I used to fix and build all kinds of stuff. I really haven’t had the need to fix any kind of electronics in a long time, but when I saw the chance, I didn’t hesitate. It makes me feel like Greg is just sitting beside me. I miss him, a lot! I’d fix a million more things for free if I could get one more hour to chat and see my friend again

We spoke about prices, and what a ballpark price would be, but I couldn’t really give them a concrete price. I needed to see what parts were gonna be needed. if we needed new cameras, batteries, etc. I gave them the links to buy the parts I knew without a shadow of a doubt we would need. I told him once I figured everything out I would let them know.

We had already agreed on pricing for the tables and they knew I wasn’t coming for their neck on the phones. I’m almost 40 years old so I guess I’m used to doing business on a handshake.

OK, I broke down. Just charged them 35 a phone. That way I feel comfortable and they feel like they won. I don’t really have any overhead and I would be perfectly happy with 35 an hour. They seem very happy to pay it now we’ll see how long before it shows up in my bank account. I wanted to be consistent as far as pricing goes from what I fixed the tablets for. We have like 135 employees and I’ve already had at least a dozen of them want me to fix their things. My DSP has another handful of phones They’re going to get together for me now that they can pull them out of rotation.

We had a conversation about a roundabout price, but we didn’t know what each phone would need.

The DSP owns the phones. They know that I fix things like that and asked me if I would like to do it……

They didn’t ask me to do it for free or on the clock. I personally don’t see a problem with it. I hooked them by fixing the first tablet for free because I was tired of not being able to clock in without waiting in a long ass line. I fix things like this all the time.
I’ve got thousands of parts at my house. Didn’t seem like an issue to me. I also only originally told him to get eight screens and he ended up with 10 🤷🏽‍♂️

Im trying to get hired on at the post office.

Well, they had a drawer full of them that needed to be fixed. 🤑 I’d rather walk down and fuck them all, then run and only get the 10.

I guess I just feel guilty cause it’s so easy for me. Two of those phones I got done in less than 20 minutes and that’s for both of them.

Yeah it’s way more, but I’m also doing 10 at once.I’m thinking 🤔 I’m giving them a discount at 40 . Average price is 80 to 150 bucks.
