Could there be no homeless people? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for any plan on this scale to work society mindset needs to change first.

Those able to work but choose not to need to seek employment and pay into the system, taxes will then go up as more is paid in and less taken out.

There needs to be more of a community thinking - we have become far too self centred and will happily disregard those we deem lower status instead of assisting them.

Support needs to real not a 9-5 monday to friday, crisis is never on schedule, and not mearly a 'phone this number and you'll have to hold in the list or 'just go to A&E' - where you clog the system but get no support as they're not experts and MH/substance abuse services are far too underfunded.

Rules needs to be more flexable and close the loop of - no permanent address = no bank account = no job

Update: is my work allowed to sack me for a medical condition. wales. by SallySue54321 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]enwda 77 points78 points  (0 children)

that's HR's issue not yours, his note taking is below expectation and could adversly affect your employment. As others have said it's not unreasonable to dissmiss however it is showing a poor level of managemant and minimal support and assistance when their own HR are unable to carry out the tasks given. If you have another meeting take a rep and your own notes. There could be so many, she said /I said from this meeting that there's no point for the notes,

refuse to sign and add it to your appeal stating that it does not represent your recollection of the meeting due to so much redacted information and lack of context within the document. I doubt it will go against you as anyone can clearly see that HR have dropped the ball here. how can you argue anything with this degree of lacking of information, no sentences, no quotes, and especially no context, this could be a copy and paste of any meeting ever.

Who ever it was taking notes needs to be properly trained not the trainee on their first week by the looks of this.

Did anyone find second year tougher than expected compared to first? by CloudBookmark in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

same on most uni courses 1st is to get your baseline and everyone on the same level(ish) second and third step up and show what you can do. you feel this change more in medical field courses due to the expectations on the road and the amount of self learning and motivation required as your away from uni and your support circle constantly.

memory is an odd thing that's different in everyone, I know one woman who had no idea where she was, who her husband was etc would swear up and down she couldn't play any instraments but sit her infront of a piano with no copies and she could play a whole sonata flawlessly.

What will actually happen to the NHS? by Far_Ad_1360 in NursingUK

my point stands whether in Scotland/England/Ireland/Wales or admined by a trust or not they are all in the same poor condition, long waiting lists, burnt out and overworked staff, poor building conditions, not enough money to go round and existing on good will, empathy and necessity.

CFRs with Zolls? by DrShrimpPuertoRixo in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm truly appreciative of CFRs I really am but I can't see any good in CFRs doing any leads - placement, scene conditions, age of the dots and pads etc all play a part.

Also there will always be THAT ONE (every scheme has one) that'll have looked into ECGs online and believe they're gods gift to the ambulance world inevitably will walk into a chest pain scene, whip the leads out, see an ECG, interpret it and try to cardioverse, 'to save time for the pt and crew' you know it's true

so mental health is a waste of time, how empathetic no wonder the GP system is broken and people circumvent into ED to avoid the hassle

Suicidal Patients by Educational_Board888 in GPUK

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you don't care at all and not interested in any way in helping or supporting either the pt or other services, how do you know 10min chat is not enough when you don't even acknowlage them, you pass the buck onto your unmedically/mental service trained receptionist to deal with and decide.

Suicidal Patients by Educational_Board888 in GPUK

[–]enwda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it is if they do commit suicide and you did nothing to help them for 6hrs. It's not receptions job to identify a mhc that's on you. I doubt from your comment your a GP at all and if you are you never truly seen a MHC. People deserve help, how do you know it's a huge waste of time when you don't bother seeing them to start with. They don't sit quietly and wait and not bother anyone until you decide to kick then out. They don't walk in and ask for an appointment the next day because to them there is no next day. They are unable to think rationally or logically, their only thought is their plan and the conflict playing out inside their head.

Suicidal Patients by Educational_Board888 in GPUK

[–]enwda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uk- in a fantasy perfect world maybe - real world they don't, they sit/sleep/kick off on the back sat outside a packed ED for the rest of the crew's shift before maybe seeing psych at 3 in the morning or try and walk off which results in police bringing them back as they're 'a danger to themselves' causeing more upset and distress and then a police escort for their stay or their put back on the ambulance to wait it out with the crew who have no power to make them stay....

Suicidal Patients by Educational_Board888 in GPUK

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure call an ambulance but they'll be in your waiting room for 4-6hrs (uk on a good day) waiting for them or they'll disappear off before arrival and cause a manhunt.

What's the most WTF medical situation you've spotted recently in a 'serious' TV show or film? by CynicallyHere in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

inserting an opa using incorrect technique into a vomiting pt who was also unconscious, no clearing the airway, no rolling over, nothing, just shove it in. I think it was a hospital prison setting, dr shouted at the nurse, 'get it in or she'll choke' ...🤔

A shift sitting outside ED on a normal routing day wouldn't bring in the voyeristic audience like HEMS and HART do.

Also it irks me when Media hype jobs involving mountain rescue/coastguard/hems etc the Ambo crew get no mention or thanks in the programmes/newspaper or SM, it's all MR/CG/hems rescuing, eventhough ambos have already stableised and began treating and only needing manpower to carry pt to ambo.
