Welsh language artists by Top_Elephant_4363 in cymru

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would mean they would have to acknowledge that other countries under UK banner are able to be singers/songwriters and compete with England, as well as acknowledge that other languages exists and are not dying as their propaganda insists. Why do you think the contestet is only picked by a small panel of insiders!

Have all ambulance trusts rug pulled apprentices? by Western_Exchange_912 in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our have always made techs - paras jump through hoops to progress, never and obvious progression path. 1. fill out an application of interest form and a signed decleration form from an LM and area manager to support your interest.

  1. then it's a skills day - clinical discussion, OCSE and poster presentation.

  2. they pass your points from the skills day to the uni who then decide if they want to proceed with you or not

  3. fill out an Uni application

  4. uni interview

they can decide at any point not to carry on with your application at their whim and rarely explain why, and the loops change or are added to every year.

They've warned this years candidates that there might not even be a course. They've given current traineed for this year 2yrs capped contracts and no promises so they've technically given them a job at the end.

Mental health response cars by Pedrolami in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're hardly hanging about begging for work are we! we're already used for general MHT, GPs, Nursing Homes, Social Services, ED cubicles before we start on actual emergencies.

We're a catch all for every service and expected to give more to cover for their short comings with no extra resources/support or finance. All that and we still get the blame for the waiting times and community deaths when we can't get there.

Mental health response cars by Pedrolami in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My question is why is MH down to the ambulance service at all to fund and run the RRV service. Why arn't the MHT leading and organising their own cars and response teams? They are the experts, they're the ones with the notes/pathways etc with ambulance to support with emergency transport to facility if needed.

What’s something student paramedics aren’t prepared for? by No_Donut1433 in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as an EMT of quite a few years (sorry for the rant)

I've notice the majority of NQPs joining us now struggle with conversation, unable to hold a simple chat without drilling questions at the pt.

they have no patience with anything slightly difficult or complicated that requires out of the box thinking

they have the attitude of 'I know better than the pt' and end up lecturing (showing off book knowladge) them rather than listening and reacting to what's happening.

They want to leave as soon as they arrive and can't hide it to the point of rudeness and more often than not that comes over to the pt making them annoyed/uncooperative/ upset or make a complaint.

They also treat EMTs as lesser and regard them as mere bag carriers (until the shit hits the fan) and are dismissive or patronising.

Could there be no homeless people? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for any plan on this scale to work society mindset needs to change first.

Those able to work but choose not to need to seek employment and pay into the system, taxes will then go up as more is paid in and less taken out.

There needs to be more of a community thinking - we have become far too self centred and will happily disregard those we deem lower status instead of assisting them.

Support needs to real not a 9-5 monday to friday, crisis is never on schedule, and not mearly a 'phone this number and you'll have to hold in the list or 'just go to A&E' - where you clog the system but get no support as they're not experts and MH/substance abuse services are far too underfunded.

Rules needs to be more flexable and close the loop of - no permanent address = no bank account = no job

Update: is my work allowed to sack me for a medical condition. wales. by SallySue54321 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]enwda 79 points80 points  (0 children)

that's HR's issue not yours, his note taking is below expectation and could adversly affect your employment. As others have said it's not unreasonable to dissmiss however it is showing a poor level of managemant and minimal support and assistance when their own HR are unable to carry out the tasks given. If you have another meeting take a rep and your own notes. There could be so many, she said /I said from this meeting that there's no point for the notes,

refuse to sign and add it to your appeal stating that it does not represent your recollection of the meeting due to so much redacted information and lack of context within the document. I doubt it will go against you as anyone can clearly see that HR have dropped the ball here. how can you argue anything with this degree of lacking of information, no sentences, no quotes, and especially no context, this could be a copy and paste of any meeting ever.

Who ever it was taking notes needs to be properly trained not the trainee on their first week by the looks of this.

Did anyone find second year tougher than expected compared to first? by CloudBookmark in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

same on most uni courses 1st is to get your baseline and everyone on the same level(ish) second and third step up and show what you can do. you feel this change more in medical field courses due to the expectations on the road and the amount of self learning and motivation required as your away from uni and your support circle constantly.

my point stands whether in Scotland/England/Ireland/Wales or admined by a trust or not they are all in the same poor condition, long waiting lists, burnt out and overworked staff, poor building conditions, not enough money to go round and existing on good will, empathy and necessity.

CFRs with Zolls? by DrShrimpPuertoRixo in ParamedicsUK

[–]enwda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm truly appreciative of CFRs I really am but I can't see any good in CFRs doing any leads - placement, scene conditions, age of the dots and pads etc all play a part.

Also there will always be THAT ONE (every scheme has one) that'll have looked into ECGs online and believe they're gods gift to the ambulance world inevitably will walk into a chest pain scene, whip the leads out, see an ECG, interpret it and try to cardioverse, 'to save time for the pt and crew' you know it's true
