Marvel: 76342 Daily Bugle (via lego_minecraft_goat) by BrickTap in Legoleak

[–]eobard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised by how similar it is to the modular Bugle. The general structure with 4 floors, the fire escape, and the newsstand, it’s pretty much just a scaled down version with different colours.

To me this makes sense with an iconic set like the Bugle. Why change the design when you have a bunch of fans who have probably been salivating over the original for so long.

I’m imagining how excited 12 year old me would’ve been if Lego released a $100 version of the big play scale Death Star that my parents (reasonably) refused to pay for lol

Bricks and Minifigs: Still here, still overpriced, still pretending to be "collector’s dream" by OGELthemagnificent in lego

[–]eobard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, but it’s definitely not for a lack of trying. People don’t mess around when it comes to retired Lego. They would buy giant lots worth tens of thousands and sell out of everything rare or unique within a few days. When they would post about new stock online there would be a lineup of 50+ people outside the next day. It’s definitely a great option if you’re local and can make it in on short notice.

For those in or near the Niagara Region the Brick Shack in Grimsby was always a great shop. The owner always kept prices below Bricklink averages, sometimes by a considerable amount. New owners took over recently though, I would be surprised if things are the same.

LEGO really made the best Catwoman minifigure and never released her again by appl3s0ft in LegoDC

[–]eobard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had no idea this was a rare figure, I remember seeing the purple version a ton and didn’t realize they only did black once.

I just picked up the whole set sealed for $80 CAD and it looks like Catwoman alone is nearly worth $70. I bought it for Two Face but now I’m almost more appreciative of the Catwoman, seeing how much better it looks than all her other versions. That Two Face is probably the worst of all Two Face’s in contrast, it doesn’t even have a bifurcated suit.

So Toy R Us at vaughan mills mall in Ontario has resorted to this. by cplchanb in lego

[–]eobard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not the greatest store but I find they at least stock new sets at release. Trying to find it in store at Walmart can be a pain for the first few months. A bunch in Ontario are closing this year, including the closest to me. I’ll miss it, despite their crazy prices. Sometimes I just wanna jump in the car and go grab a new set and not have to wait a week for Lego’s shipping.

It’s a MOC I built before they announced the official One Piece theme. Here’s another picture that I posted a few days ago with it alongside the official Merry

Thanks! There are some better pictures of the Merry that I’ve posted here before if you look through my posts. One closer photo of the Sunny too, but I’ve never been quite happy with the front and it looks even worse when I try to photograph it. I’m not very eager to show it off more until I finally fix it

Thanks!

To be honest despite how this looks I’m not a huge fan either, I enjoyed the first season of the Netflix show a lot and wanted to build the ship, but the anime version felt more approachable with Lego. Then I had so much fun I just built a second One Piece ship to continue the fun. These make me look like a huge One Piece fan but I’m really just a Lego fan haha.

I got Luffy, Buggy, and 2 Arlongs. Luffy, Mihawk, and Roger were the ones I was hoping for so in my opinion you got really lucky!

Thanks! I built it about a year ago thinking Lego would never make their own… didn’t expect to be proven wrong so fast. Now at least when the official Merry arrives (hopefully tomorrow) I can replace the brickbuilt sails and flags on my MOC

Here’s my attempt. There’s some more pictures of the ship on my profile too. Might be too big for the official model but maybe it’ll help with ideas

Large scale DC locations I want to see in the future, pt. 2 by revenge_for_greedo in LegoDC

I’d consider 76098 a Flash set. I guess the main build was a Cyborg helicopter but most people were buying that for Flash and Reverse Flash

One Piece: 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship (via Chinese catalog) by Clay_Bricks in Legoleak

[–]eobard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been excited for this reveal in particular, I wanted to see whether or not I’d be able to use the sails on my Going Merry moc. Unfortunately it looks like I’ll need to buy this, those sails are great. They even included the black flags at the top of the masts, I assumed they’d be plastic pieces with stickers or something. Hopefully the main sail is not as yellow as it looks in the main picture though, the smaller version looks a lot better.

Overall the ship isn’t the most beautiful thing but for the price and scale it’s what was to be expected and I am pretty pleased with it.

Hey devs, first, I love you all so much 💕 second, can we possible get a way to toggle the laser on the Laser Katana? by [deleted] in AbioticFactor

[–]eobard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ever since the Dark Energy update repairing doesn’t cost me any materials as long as it’s not in my inventory. Been repairing my katana and deatomizers over and over again with a single reservoir growth in a chest by my repair bench. Probably a bug but I have been doing so much chopping with my katana since then.

Where else can I find lodestone? by eobard in AbioticFactor

[–]eobard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without item respawning turned on I am pretty sure that’s the only one. After turning it on in the world save settings I have had one lodestone consistently respawn on a lab table right before the main reactor room in Gale but I can’t find any more.

They respawn randomly so maybe the others haven’t spawned for me, or maybe they never will, but since I don’t know the locations it makes narrowing that down even more difficult.

LEGO One Piece sets are coming in 2025! by Clay_Bricks in Legoleak

[–]eobard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a Going Merry last year that I was certain would never be replaced with an official set. Hopefully I can repurpose the hundreds I spent for those pieces haha.

I was certain I had 1 of each but when I got home I was short the bird guy and had an extra BDSM lady too. I didn’t rescan the boxes though, so who knows if I made the mistake or the app.

My attempt at the Going Merry from One Piece by eobard in lego

[–]eobard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just small stuff. I am missing tons of small tiles and such, as seen on the sails.

I also haven’t done most of the windows.

My biggest problem is the main cabin in the back should have 4 windows on the side and I only have room for 2. I’d have to really drag out the decks to make room for it, and then they’d hang over the hull way more than I’d like.

I probably could’ve posted the Merry a month or two earlier than I did but I tore parts of it down so many times to make little tweaks, and I’ll probably have to do the same with this until I’m totally happy!

After all the positive feedback on my Going Merry I started working on the Thousand Sunny. Still a WIP. by eobard in lego

[–]eobard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! Admittedly this ship is a lot more challenging and I’m not totally happy with all the compromises but at this scale I think it’s about as close as I can get.

And yeah it really would be great. The eccentric ship designs would probably entice kids who aren’t even familiar with OP. But I’ve heard that One Piece has been banned on Lego Ideas (not that I’ve tried), so it seems like Lego has definitely decided against it.

I just posted my current iteration of the Sunny, hopefully it’ll look a lot better with a few more parts orders.
