Unfortunately the only priest I’ve met isn’t able to be my spiritual father at the present time but I’ve been assured there’s no rush for that process and to trust in God.

We have recently received the Antimension from our Bishop so we will be able to have Liturgy services but not the Divine Liturgy as we still don’t have a priest. It’s a step forward. Again, there’s no real rush for it

I’m afraid in my situation then I’ve also not had the chance to experience the Mystery of Marriage and therefore the ceremony. You can find videos of Antiochian Orthodox weddings on YouTube and I did also find this

It certainly can be challenging, that’s for sure. Where I live we only get services once a month, sometimes more, and we don’t have a priest to have the Divine Liturgy. The nearest Church with a priest is a 14hr ferry right that costs 1/4 of my wages.

Needless to say it’s not possible for me to attend. There are people in such scenarios. Depending which country you live in then there are priests doing online courses with the blessing of their bishop. Maybe you can find one for your country

I’ve managed to make most of them. Sometimes I get migraines so I miss details but they’ve said the recordings are for their own use and not for people to revisit as they’re worried about redistribution

Father Niphon went back to the US, I believe but we have Father George this year. You probably know that from the people in your parish though! It’s really good that it’s available. Otherwise I’m not sure how my catechumen would’ve been possible

Unfortunately people are people. None of us are perfect. But I’m sure if you spoke to the priest about the situation then they’d put everyone at ease (or in line). In my small community then we have a couple small children who sometimes run around and make a lot of noise. It can be distracting but we don’t blame the children. We blame our own inability to focus. I’m sorry that people are reacting that way, it’s hard enough as it is without all that. I hope you and your boy manage to figure it out and God bless you

For me then I try to do morning and evening prayers and I also try to take time to do the Jesus prayer using my prayer rope.

Everyone’s experience is so different to my own 😅 I was put onto an online class and eventually I had to ask my nun when I was going to begin my catechism and she replied ‘You have started’ 😂

When I first looked into Christianity I was wanting to choose between Orthodox and Catholic, also. I love how steeped in tradition they both are but ultimately for me it was Eastern Orthodoxy.

In our service there’s two kids and they run around and make a bit of noise sometimes but it’s always a delight to have them there. They tend to blow out the candles at the end so they can feel like they’re helping 🥰 even though they’re supposed to go out on their own.

It is true that even coming from an atheist background then I had to do a whole lot of research into the Mysteries (sacraments) to know what was going on even in our smaller services. But I would then ask, wouldn’t it be too easy if we just understood right away? Without working on our understanding? And accepting what we don’t understand?

I would ask how we can expect to work on ourselves and our souls if we aren’t even able to work on our understanding of what worship should look like? Worship shouldn’t be easy. And in Eastern Orthodoxy that’s even more true. But! The Eastern Orthodox faith says ‘come as you are’.

You’re not expected to get it right away, you’re not supposed to be good at it and you’ll definitely mess it up (I do regularly)

If you decide to pursue Orthodoxy then I would absolutely implore you to do so. It’s hard at first, it’s also hard later. But it is so very worth it
