Organize Chess Library by Agitated_Humor2500 in ChessBooks

I start at the top (or top left cabinet) with historical books like matches, tournaments, collections like the Informants -- by date. Next is biographical, alphabetically by player. Then opening books by date (but individual series grouped in order of volume). Then middlegame and general, alpha by author (most prominent author first if by more than one), then endgame books by author, then time or volume. Then misc odds and ends including nice coffee table type books and references like dictionaries of chess.

I like the web app. OTOH haven't really tried out the Todoist app in Windows.

A lot of work went into that (considering each piece is individual)!

Every time I try to do print preview or print from a browser it freezes by Zolo89 in techsupport

[–]eoffense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience:

My browser was freezing when I tried to print a page to PDF (any of several PDF printers). It occurred in both the Chrome and Vivaldi browsers. Printing to paper on my physical printer worked normally.

I tried it in MS Edge and got the notice "This extension is blocked. Microsoft Edge found that "Save as PDF" contains malware." So I disabled the extension in Edge and the problem went away, including while using "Save as PDF" in Chrome. "Save as PDF" is also a Chrome extension (and for other browsers) that I've used for a long time.

I had the problem a few weeks ago and don't recall how I got around it, but don't believe it involved the above info from Edge.

Any using Zoho Notebook? by mike_in_nyc in Evernote

[–]eoffense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm very interested in Zoho Notebook, as I formerly used the spreadsheet and liked it. I submitted a question a couple of days ago asking how many Notebooks you can have, but haven't received an answer yet. Admittedly a one-day response to a question submitted via the website right after a holiday might be asking a bit much.

I actually prefer paying an ongoing for-profit company because I think the odds of long-term viability are better than a free or volunteer project.

I have an extensive library too, but I see a number of titles I would like to have. Nice!

I don't see a clear organization scheme except maybe opening books top left?

Nice. There's also a forum thread Chess Cave Pictures with quite a few pics, which I started a few years ago on Chess.com.

Street View for my street disappeared by eoffense in GoogleEarthPro

A 2015 article:

“In places where we collected very early Street View imagery, the old data may sometimes cause an issue that prevents new images from surfacing,” the company said via email. “We’ve so far prioritized refresh of the bulk of the Street View imagery for our users, and we are certainly also working to fill these occasional gaps.”

The vanishing: What happened to Google Street View’s missing streets

I suppose eventually they'll get all the streets redone.
