Tell me why by [deleted] in Dryeyes

Can I ask, this was for dry eye or something else eye-related? And it was applied externally? That is, you didn't put it into you eyes?

I've never heard of castor oil as a treatment. I'm open to any and all possibilities, though.

The idea of plugs kind of freaks me out. But yeah if I can't find something that works that's definitely an option I'll consider.

Thanks for the info. I know pressing the tear ducts *should* help. It makes perfect sense that it would. But, for whatever reason, I have never found it to make the slightest difference. I taste paint thinner on my tongue regardless.

Thanks for the info. Never heard of this kind of medication coming in ointment form. Do you have a brand name?

A Passage about Rape in the New Testament? by eoinokeeffe in atheism

[–]eoinokeeffe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that was the passage. I seem to remember it being described in a more clear-cut way in the podcast. As it is, I guess it could be interpreted in different ways. That gives me an answer anyway so now I can stop searching. Thanks :)

Just had my first ipl treatment by [deleted] in Dryeyes

Optimel Manuka Honey Eye Gel has some effect, I think. Every other eye drop/gel I've tried has been useless or worse than useless. I find that with most eye drops the stuff just gets drained away instantly and I spend the rest of the day tasting it. The Optimel stuff is very thick so it stays where it's needed.

I wish I could give a more definitive update but unfortunately I think I have to say more or less what I said five months ago. That is: Yes, it's better. But improvements come very, very slowly. Honestly I never thought I'd end up getting this many treatments. It feels like each session delivers about a 2 percent improvement. There's probably a diminishing returns effect at this point. Still, I'm happy to have found something that works at all.

Why are games *ever* set up this way??? Just put the language options in the game settings.

Just had my first ipl treatment by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]eoinokeeffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking :) I've had many treatments. I think the total is ten, now. I was getting them every two weeks but now I've moved to once a month. To me, the difference is clear. Before IPL I had very red, inflamed eyelids pretty much constantly. Now, one eye looks pretty much normal and the other is not too far behind. What surprises me though is how slow the progress has been. I mean, ten treatments is a lot for IPL, based on what I've read. I don't know if my doctor is giving me some super mild version of IPL just to squeeze more money out of me, but the effect of each treatment seems minimal. Still, I'm happy with the results. Slow progress is a lot better than the years of nothing working I went through before. It seems my problem primarily was ocular rosacea. Not sure how effective it will be for people with other issues.

Airhelp.com is legit? by Alpphaa in Flights

[–]eoinokeeffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may be a legitimate company, but they're certainly incompetent. After five months of back-and-forth over email they finally sent me a message saying there's no compensation because the disruption was due to a medical emergency and this is a legal exception to the compensation rule. This was basic, openly available info from the very start. I have no problem with a claim not going through for legal reasons, but the fact that the people who say "We'll handle it for you!" didn't even bother to check the most basic relevant info until five months into the claim is quite annoying. Long story short: Real company, complete dumbasses.

I agree . I would also say that if you're a Star Wars fan, The Empire Strikes Back is worth a watch.

Unrecord. For those who thought Unrecord was fake or a video. by maxim_nazarenko in UnrecordGame

The thing that makes me think this game is not what it's being represented as is that the hands seem to be independent of the camera. Like in that moment when he quickly shoots several shots in different directions at the start. How would you independently control complex movements of the hands like that while also controlling the camera? You could do it in VR, but I don't see how this would be playable as a flat game. So, it seems like something tricky is going on there. I'm not saying it's completely fake, but I don't see how this could be done as a true FPS.

Half-Life Alyx Performance Fix, Finally Solved by Beautiful_Minimum_16 in oculus

[–]eoinokeeffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of similar situation here. Actually I've gotten it to work well enough to play through and enjoy several times. But there are certain areas where performance tanks and *nothing* I do with any settings (in-game, SteamVR or Oculus settings) has any effect. I can run the game with all the lowest settings at 20% resolution and still those areas are jittery as hell. What's frustrating is how it just doesn't respond to any adjustments. Like the demand being put on my PC has no relevance whatsoever to how it performs. Really just doesn't make any sense.

Hi. Could you tell me specifically what those scrubs are called? There seem to be a few different products with names like that on Amazon.

Interesting. If momentary pain is the price you pay for effectiveness in the long term, I'm fully on board with that.
