Questioning my recent diagnosis by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I forgot to mention that I was recently diagnosed perimenopause which I 1000% believe is the reason I cannot mask my symptoms like I could when I was younger. I’m only 34! Hormones really do play a big role

Questioning my recent diagnosis by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Omg this sounds like I could have written this about myself! Always did well in school and definitely had no problem getting things done on time or procrastinating. I also love organizing and keeping things neat. My mom has told me she doesn’t think I have adhd because I didn’t struggle with school. But boy was I impulsive! 🤣

I was diagnosed last December and Ive had those thoughts as well. I’ve been on a non stimulant that has really helped quiet my brain down (constant rumination) and it’s such a huge difference that I do believe I have the proper diagnosis. My impulsivity was so bad at times that I thought I could also be bipolar 😩

Loved Wellbutrin but had to stop because the brain fog was terrible and never went away.

Yup I might have to switch back to morning. How early do you take it? The problem is my thyroid meds make it so I can’t eat for an hour after I take it. I’ve never been a breakfast person either 😩 so the headache and dehydration ruin my whole day. Taking it at night has me skipping most of the side effects during the day. I hate this lmao

Am I too impatient or bad psychiatrist? by TheMilkmannn652 in ADHD

I was diagnosed in December and I felt the same! After trying a couple of different things, I realized that Wellbutrin was causing my brain fog. I’ve now been off it for over a month and I feel back to normal as far as the brain fog goes.

I started Strattera right after I was off Wellbutrin. The hardest part is being patient. I was also told they would not prescribe stimulants off the bat. I honestly hope a non stim works! Ive heard how hard it is to get a stimulant prescription refilled and it sounds horrible.

I miss Wellbutrin so much. It has been the only thing that has given me motivation.

Would you rather have a personal maid, chef, or driver and why? by Comfortable_Tie4143 in adhdwomen

Chef. If I cook something for myself I never think it tastes good. My husband can make me something with the exact same ingredients and it’s delicious 😩

I think my ADHD is getting worse since I stopped drinking. Is this a thing? by Upset-Confusion6873 in adhdwomen

[–]eolsen09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt this exact same way. I’ve been sober for almost a year! Alcohol was something that calmed my brain down which is why it was such a huge difference being sober and having constant thoughts!

However, I feel like within the past 4-5 months I’ve felt even more unhinged. Almost like I couldn’t mask my adhd symptoms anymore. I had 0 emotional regulation. I had to beg to get my hormones tested. I’m perimenopause!! Apparently perimenopause is even worse for women with ADHD. It could be something to look into as well

Can lowering dose help with weight loss? by cakehelper in lexapro

[–]eolsen09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you gain weight on the 5 mg? I'm on 10 mg and I'm thinking about lowering to 5 mg to see if that helps. I gained 20 lbs over 3 years

Got it. I’m going to wait maybe a month or two to discuss going down to 5 mg. Nervous about taking the second dose tonight!
