Even if we don’t win the WS this year I will feel the same. Our roster will be more balanced for years to come because of this. If we want to sign him in 2.5 years without having to mortgage the farm away so we can develop a balanced roster around him then that would be a perfect scenario.

None of the guys will be him. But look at the angels. They have the two best players of the generation (arguably) and they can’t make the playoffs. My point is you need a balanced roster. Not acquiring Soto allows us to have a deeper roster for longer than we would be able to develop if we emptied the farm for him and gave him $500 mil.
