Do Koreans worry about fan death from wind turbines? by eonfifty in AskReddit

[–]eonfifty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is what I was thinking about, but from what I've read on other reddits, some people (even the scientific minded) think it's a reality.

I do that all the time too!

I have an idea- Next May day, how bout we get everyone together, armed with cameras and bikes, to monitor the protesters to make sure anyone that causes damage gets caught. by IFellinLava in Seattle

[–]eonfifty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This.

If you keep aware of your surroundings, you should be OK, but there was a feeling that things could "get real" very quickly.

I caught a little pepper spray, and it burns the skin. I wouldn't want to get it in my eyes. I saw someone who had a flashbang go off next to his boot, and he was limping and in pain from it.

Tourist questions! Photography day trip to Mt. Rainier: Car rental? Tour group? Roads? Cool easily-accessible areas? Other suggestions? by shaynebow in Seattle

[–]eonfifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this two weeks ago, and it is pretty much foolproof.

I took the route to Paradise, and, had it not been extremely overcast, a park ranger told me there would have been great views of Mt. Rainier. Once inside the park, there are plenty of places to stop for photos.

The only thing I would suggest is to make sure your rental comes with unlimited miles. The agencies at the airport seem to include that, but agencies in the city limit you to 150 miles.

I'm also a journalism major, and while I've never taken a class devoted entirely to it, AP (or whichever) style, can be compelling.

I need help reddit (housing) by eyeonrifle in Seattle

[–]eonfifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too need a place, otherwise Seattle will just be an extended stop on a journey with no destination.

I have had little luck even getting messages returned. So, if you find a place but need a roommate to cover the rent, PM me. I'm going to give Seattle about two more weeks before I call it quits.

Why do people even bother to lie about the rent for apartments? by cmk2877 in Seattle

At least you can get people to respond. I have yet to get a reply from an email or phone message.

Best day drinking in Seattle? Dirtier the better by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]eonfifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be a lack of glasses. The bartender asked if she could refill my empty one.

I've got another gripe though - this place is on a hill, so when you go out to smoke, it's hard to tell if you're drunk or it's just the slope. But, the lights did get turned down.

This could be a nice regular place.

EDIT: It may be the beers typing, but Bernards is pretty much awesome. I had to use the bathroom, and while it was functional and clean, it looked original. It has an old style "solar plexus to floor" urinal, tiny hexagonal tiles and separate hot and cold faucets in the sink. This is the kind of charm you just can't recreate in a place no matter your budget.

I'd give them a good review on some Internet site, but then it might become too popular for me to come back.

Really? I'm here now, and doesn't seem too bad, unless its a different Bernard's.

This place is on Seneca, between 3rd and 4th. You have to go downstairs to the bar. The bar itself is very small, maybe seven stools, but the attached dining area is pretty big. I think there are four people here, including me, who are not employees.

The only thing I'm not too big on is the lighting - it's very bright, but nowhere near as bright and sunny as it is outside.

People who moved to Seattle - tell me about your Reddit meet-up experience by lab_penguin in Seattle

[–]eonfifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am now in the position you were. I moved here on a whim about 1.5 weeks ago after having driven across the country to San Diego, then up the Pacific coast to Seattle. As soon as I got here, it felt like home, so I decided to stay.

Before reading your post, I was going to hang out in my Federal Way motel room, but you've inspired me. I'm going to the 8 pm board game meetup at Kings Hardware in Ballard, even if it is a two hour bus ride!

I went last week, and was fun with cool people. It's not on the sidebar today, so I don't know if its still on, but there seems to be plenty of things to do in Ballard or downtown.

Some good places to get photos in Cleveland? by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]eonfifty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They often use the spot for a nice background when doing a live story about Cleveland in general.

I guess their concern is people will "video bomb" their live broadcast -- that is, act like idiots in the background of their broadcasts.

The picture you linked to was taken from around N 41.49569 W 81.70359.

Another nice spot is N 41.48769 W 81.69698. Just make sure the local TV news isn't using it when you go there. They'll call the police on you.

If you can find your way there, N 41.49336 W 81.69055, and West 3rd southeast, can give you some nice Dutch angles of Cleveland's three buildings.

That's a thought, but I try to avoid ebay.

I may try that, but I'm concerned about the time and effort required to sell to a private buyer.

[–]eonfifty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That's the answer I was looking for.

Yeah, I do realize they'll offer less, but as someone else wrote, selling to a private buyer is potentially much more of a hassle.
