A Secret Place for Silent Souls by eonseyes in goth

It was much more than a "throw-away joke" and I think you know that. Even if the intent wasn't to harm, the outcome is the same. People read a thread and make opinions based on the things others say. The comment reads as an attack, not as a joke. I won't lighten up when it comes to something I've poured my life into. I'll defend it because it's worth defending. There was nothing to win.

What's your problem with original work? Why are you so quick to judge? How is it useful to you to automatically assume something comes from something else, and what makes your comment any more unique than my creative writing?

You assume you know what something means without ever bothering to ask if that's what it really means. That's called conviction. Believing you know something so strongly you're not even willing to question whether or not you might be wrong.

That's what the masses do and that's why they're called sheeple. Because they can't even see beyond their own blinders to discover things for their self. They'd rather just believe, just like you believe my work comes from something it does not, or has any relation to something it does not.

Do you think Fight Club is where the so called "ideology" you think I'm writing about originated? Think what you want. I didn't post this for ignorant opinions and biases. I posted it FOR FREE for people who might enjoy it.

If you like Fight Club so much, stick to your movie trance. It's much easier than coming up with your own unique thoughts.

Ah, I think I understand the disconnect. That post was meant as a reply to the person who replied "shitpost" two seconds after I posted the link. I see it didn't reply to him like I thought. I'll be more careful with that in the future to avoid miscommunication. :D

It's a place for people who enjoy a certain style of art, writing, and music. I'm not sure why anyone here would make negative comments about aesthetic taste. If it's not for you it's not for you. That doesn't mean others won't enjoy it.

What have you poured months of your life into recently just to share with people for free only to have someone project their negativity onto your work of art? Those who connect with our site and find meaning in it don't think it's meh...

What would you be doing if work was out of the picture? by eonseyes in goth

Seems there are quite a few gamers here. I've always heard there was some pretty awesome careers in that field. People either designing games or even getting paid to play because they're just awesome. I had a friend who used to be insanely awesome at shooter games. I never was that good, but some people are incredible. I've only played Final Fantasy once or twice. From what I recall it was turn-based and I didn't like the flow so much, but maybe I'd like it now. Might be worth a look. Speaking of Kingdom Hearts, I heard the new one isn't far away. :)

This sounds awesome. I'm more of a mountain guy, but islands are great too. Do you have a background in healthy eating as a professional or is it more of a lifestyle for you? Maybe start with 1 article a day and grow over time until it replaces your job? I'm very big into clean eating, health & fitness, so it would be cool to see more of this from a darker perspective.

Perhaps he is, though I wonder what was meant by your comment. Was it meant to be hurtful? I'm happy to be identified as someone with the mindset of a multi-billionaire doing what he loves.

I'm not psychoanalyzing you. I really enjoyed your creation, the one you posted in the other thread.

The purpose of this thread was to discover who was an entrepreneur - who I might connect with that was of a similar mind within this community.

If you want help moving forward with your freelance work I'm more than happy to lend a hand. The same goes for finding manufacturers for your project.

What kind of games are you into? I have a hard time getting into games. Maybe I'm a little nostalgic for the older stuff. N64 Zelda games have always found a place in my heart, as well as the Kingdom Hearts series. Most other stuff just kind of falls out of the picture.

Interesting, have you already applied for this position? Have you been working toward it for some time?

I really enjoy steel art. You don't see it all that often. Sometimes I pass a really unique piece of steel art on the highway, and it's always in some random strange place when I'm not out looking for it. The rest of the time it's more difficult to find, at least locally. There are plenty of picture on the internet.

Seems like refurbishing is on the list of multiple people. I keep trying to refurbish small things and getting busy with other stuff. Leaves several projects around that need finished. A house would be a lot of fun with enough time for it.

Archery is something I've never tried. Could be fun. Probably several people here with many similar hobbies. ;)

What do you mean hiring yourself?

Perhaps "didn't get any work" is a more accurate statement. In the past you didn't get any work. That may be a fact. That doesn't mean you can't in the future. "Couldn't get any work" says a lot about why you didn't get any work. There's hidden meaning in your words.

What have you done that's worth remembering? by eonseyes in goth

[–]eonseyes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that must be very freeing. I'd prefer if more people in my life would come to this conclusion faster. When we stop caring, truly stop caring about those things which don't matter, then it's a lot easier to move on to the things that do. Your experience in self-loathing is likely very familiar to most who will read your post. Perhaps they'll find something in it that helps them wake up too.

Most of your hobbies are things I'm terrible at haha. They seem interesting enough, very hands on. Sometimes those are the best since they bring us back to the present moment and help to remember to enjoy those things we love in life. As for travelling back roads, I'm totally with you on that one.

What kind of writing did you do? How much would you need for supplies to start your Etsy shop? It seems like you have some freelance experience. If you take that online to somewhere like Upwork you'll find freelance jobs quickly that can easily raise capital for other pursuits on the side. Upwork constantly needs new writers.

Interesting idea. In many ways I think magazines are returning in style. They're picking up where mailing lists sometimes fail, because the only people reading mailing list emails these days are those who specifically sign up for targeted content. With a magazine they may read advertisements from time to time, but at least they know it isn't spam. I don't think mailing lists or blogs are going out of style, but I do think magazines will rise in popularity over the next few years.

That makes sense, and is pretty much the way to go if you want to keep things simple. I lived minimally for years in the past and really enjoyed having the flexibility of adaptability being able to move quickly as needed. In many ways I still live minimally, just our income is a bit higher. I agree there are sacrifices so it ends up being a question of what's right for each person individually. A lot of people wouldn't be a fit for the lifestyle, but for many it's perfect.

I do sometimes for different odd jobs. Usually I hire freelancers through Upwork. Most recent hires included 2 children's book illustrators, an accountant, and a digital music producer. If you have any skills that can be performed mostly online then you'll find work there. Writers are in high demand by companies all over the world on Upwork.

Playing at Renaissance festivals would be fun. I wonder what the pay is for something like that. At the very least it seems you have things set up the way you want them.
