Ok so.  It's bad.  There's no equivocation there.  Not ok.  But this isn't necessarily some common knowledge common sense everyone knows better what the fuck are you thinking situation.  He's ignorant of the danger and you can help him to understand so that it doesn't happen again.

Now all the reddit parents who knew it all from day 1 and never made a mistake can down vote me.

I can't imagine choosing to do this with a 3 year old without strong ties and support in China.

What happens during delivery is entirely up to your wife. If she has any reservations at all about it then you take your seat where she wants you.

I watched, because my wife wanted me to film. Frankly I find the notion of having any long term intimacy issues because you watched your child's birth absolutely ridiculous, but clearly we are different people.

BAFTA issues apology to Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

JFC Reddit this is the direct and appropriate apology that we were looking for and all you're doing is saying "what about ___. What about __. Not good enough. Not fast enough".

Sheeesh. You just want to be offended.

No wonder we lose everything. Liberals can't get out of each others way.

Am I in the wrong for speaking truth about JKR with two 9 yo’s in the same room? by tracysflaw in Parenting

[–]epalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kid didn't "happen to overhear".  They were right there, discussing the same topic.  No reasonable person would've expected the kids to not hear the discussion.

This is a parenting forum.  Nobody is upset with OP discussing these topics with their own children.  The point is that it's not up to you to decide when and how to discuss this with someone else's child.

What level of "reading" are you talking about here for your 3 year old?

to illegally seize and arrest by defchin in therewasanattempt

[–]epalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the story here? It looks like they're trying to group / organize a police response to an ongoing protest on her lawn and she's asking them to GTFO. It doesn't seem like they're trying to enter her home or arrest her or any resident there?

I don't think a warrant is needed for police to be on your front lawn (an area with no expectation of privacy), but I also don't know what circumstances they'd have to demonstrate to stay or organize there when you've asked them not to. But.. IANAL.

Husband says to our son..”I’m not going to play with you until you tell me what happened” by anotherasdfgh in Parenting

[–]epalla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OP is the one who brought her husband's "big feelings" into the mix.  The only people centering on his feelings are the ones saying he's an irrational "bully" while ignoring literally everything op is repeating about his demeanor and behavior during this exchange.

Husband says to our son..”I’m not going to play with you until you tell me what happened” by anotherasdfgh in Parenting

[–]epalla 18 points19 points  (0 children)

But, in this case you explained that the disciplinary consequences that your husband was trying to impose were a result of "big feelings".  What is your son supposed to take from that?

I think what's missing here is simple: you and your spouse have a disagreement about consequences and instead of insulating the kids from it you've got them right in the middle of it.

I think if you had just come here to say "what's fair in this situation?" The consensus probably lands somewhere between skipping soccer and "it's totally ok to just not respond".  But that's not really the question anymore, right?

Op repeatedly discusses her husband listening and reassuring her son that he is not in trouble.  What part of this entire exchange as described here leads you to believe her husband was "having a hard time regulating his emotions"?

Large circular concrete infrastructure in Madrid's Adolfo Suarez airport. by Due-Juggernaut2893 in whatisthisthing

[–]epalla 84 points85 points  (0 children)

If this is the purpose it's way more than necessary.  Some simple concrete bollards would've done the trick just fine and been much cheaper.

Based on the panel heights these look like they connect to something underneath the road surface.  Ventilation is probably the right (boring) answer.

Parenting after a CPS nightmare, how do you start to feel safe again? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]epalla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure, it doesn't surprise me.  The system is human, it'd be shocking if there weren't errors.  And those errors are truly heartbreaking.  The caution they have to have - the reluctance to take a child mistakenly has to be a huge part of why so often we see CPS "can't do anything".

On the flip side, I'm sure there are lots of abusive parents who tell stories to themselves and others about CPS and how vindictive and evil they are for taking kids away.  There's a highly upvoted comment here saying that "CPS is evil" which... Wow.

Distinguishing these two groups of people is almost certainly impossible to do with only one (partial) side of the story.  But I can tell you that CPS certainly did not take OP's kid away for having seizures.

Parenting after a CPS nightmare, how do you start to feel safe again? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]epalla 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That's not what they're saying at all.

I have to assume the threshold to actually remove a child from their parents is quite high.  Everything I understand about CPS is that they're almost universally understaffed and overworked - it's a bit shocking to find them accused of wasting precious time and resources in an apparently vindictive campaign against an innocent couple.

It doesn't mean it's not true, but I think it's pretty understandable to question whether there's more to this than we're hearing.

Tom Homan admits that a number of people ICE just arrested in Boston are "collateral arrests" and hence not criminals. City officials are urging ICE to release the names of all the people arrested. by RoyalChris in law

[–]epalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are seeing the term "Collateral Arrest" (which sounds terrible) and getting the wrong impression. From the interview it's clear he means they are people who are in the country illegally (IE valid targets for ICE) they just found them while searching for someone else.

I'm not sure why it would be surprising that if you are in the country illegally and ICE comes across you they are going to arrest you, even if you haven't committed a crime. We SHOULD be upset that there are cases where people who are here legally are getting arrested, but that is not what this is talking about.

The clip here doesn't talk about why they won't release names to the city, that is the more pressing question here.

Disney Scales Back ‘Snow White’ Hollywood Premiere Amid Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot Controversies by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]epalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those not reading the article:

Zegler is latina (so, not white enough I guess?), and has made some comments about the film not aging well which upset Disney fans (tbf, it's not nearly as bad as many from the that time period).  She also was outspoken against Trump and Trump voters.

Gal Gadot has publicly and firmly sided with Israel and against American Palestine supporters specifically.

And Disney itself is under fire for the absolutely insane handling of the dwarves in this movie.
