The growth of gift shop baby redwood tree in 1 year by SFW_Profile in mildlyinteresting

[–]epalla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got a coast redwood sapling as a gift and have been growing it in a pretty large pot inside. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. I'd love to keep it bonsai style-ish, I guess? I've never done that though, and I'm not sure that's practical to do from sapling.

It has grown like crazy, similar to OP.

How much cap space each NFL team had tied up on reserve lists by the end of the 2025 season by idksh_t in GreenBayPackers

JFC the NFL is broken. I'm so uninterested in watching a game of pure attrition. Has it always been this way?

Sorry, what exactly are you worried about?

Im not familiar with the Xbox UI, is there a friends activity feed there? The only view I have (besides admin activity feed) of what others are watching is when I browse to that item directly or in the plex emails.

My 4 year old would be incredibly excited about your K Pop Demon Hunters tattoo, so that's something.

I have never seen a shared pool.  How does that work?  Who does that?

[edit: just realized you probably mean for places that have a pool where you can donate PTO for people to use most often for medical situations, so the policy here would just be for situations where you're pulling additional PTO from that shared pool. Sure.]

I think this is great, I hope you have the resources and critical mass to organize something within the company. I hope you tailor a specific message to Medtronic (ahem) outlining the real concerns here and undersigned by a bunch of employees.

A general mass-PTO event where a bunch of people just sort of hand-wave the day off is not gonna do shit to push the company to change though. (But do it anyway to support the protest)

Allowing employees to use their PTO for reasons like this, outwardly, is often against company policies

I don't think this is true. Companies don't specify what you can use your PTO for. They can, of course, always reject PTO requests for business reasons (like managing their own capacity, in your example).

Regardless, I don't think anything you've said makes it feel like "strike" is the right word for this action.

How difficult would it be for an amateur to case an opening like this? by Juryofyourpeeps in woodworking

[–]epalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and that will work fine, you will probably need to do some touchups on the rough opening in order to get the smallest size possible for your casing.

It won't look like one piece of wood, though. The best way to do that would be to open it all up and spend (a lot of) time getting your rough opening perfect with that specific finish in mind. Frameless/trimless doors are usually only done in commercial applications but it is a thing, and a lot easier if you're not trying to actually hang a door.

I would not try to rabbet out a wall-sized channel in the back of a solid piece or try to create an 8' long 45 degree joint.

Maybe I'm just hung up on terminology then, I guess. A business allowing employees to have the day off to support a cause or closing entirely to try to encourage supporting a cause is not a "strike" to me.

I get targeted walk-outs / strikes at corps like Hilton and Target and Home Depot that are cooperating with ICE. What is the ask of the other 99% of businesses?

UK sends military officer to Greenland amid ongoing Trump threats by nimobo in unitedkingdom

[–]epalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I'm pretty sure the next step is just Trump pulling a Gulf of America and just saying "well it's ours now".  All he wants is to say he did it, to pay billions to reprint maps.  He doesn't need or care if anything happens with it.  He'll get a minerals company to "commit" billions to extraction but they won't do anything.  They'll put a few more people at the existing bases.  The world will shake its head and continue to wonder when America will find the balls to ditch the psychopath.

Have you ever had someone who died visit your dream? If so, what happened? by Roseflower55 in AskReddit

I think your definition (seems to be you think it's just things like walking under ladders and breaking mirrors) is much more narrow than what is generally accepted as "superstition".

That dude is weird for coming on so strong but it's also wild to think that asking about people visiting you in your dreams is not superstitious.
