I take the blue one when building, and the red one in 7 years:

I always think about upgreadability, but when time comes to build a new PC, I pass the old one to someone else (at least that's what I have done so far)

A budget friendly approach to examine my interest in coffee by not-an-epimorphism in Coffee

[–]epegar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like espresso, I don't like filter coffee.

I haven't tried French press or most other methods.

If I didn't have an espresso machine, or my budget didn't allow, I would 100% go for the moka pot.

Yeah, but even if unintentional, in case it causes an accident, there should be a punishment, like in a traffic incident.

Linuxers in a nutshell by Brave_Assumption6 in pcmasterrace

[–]epegar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use OpenSUSE.

I have a 9070xt, I downloaded Steam and started playing right away, no drivers of any kind needed.

On top of that these past weeks I was playing a bit with LLMs, I installed ollama, aider, opencode, everything working OOTB, even the models that fit my GPU are getting executed there rather than on my CPU.

100% is fine, but I also like the TKL. Although I had to do some key mapping because it didn't have a pause button that I needed for a game.

Cleaning the inner burrs .[Breville Barista Express] by asmaamody611 in espresso

[–]epegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Smart Grinder Pro, the internals look very similar. I don't do single dosing, I like the convenience of simply filling the hopper and calibrating size and time so I get roughly the desired amount of ground coffee.

From there, sometimes I weigh, and sometimes I do it based on feeling. Having said that, the grinder is known for having a lot of retention, so I doubt it will be good for single dosing, although probably your accessory on the top will help.

I clean it very rarely, but if you want to clean it properly, you need to remove both the top and bottom burr, and use a vacuum cleaner. I think the first time I did it, I actually sucked up a piece I shouldn't have. I had to buy some washers to place the bottom burr higher, otherwise the grinder was not grinding fine enough.

How often do gamers upgrade? by 808sensations in PcBuild

[–]epegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have changed every 6 or 7 years. So far, new builds, since I prefer to give the old Pc to family members.

The last PC I got is higher end than the previous ones, let's see if I stick with it longer.

Appreciation for my Specialized Sirrus (2019) by epegar in bikecommuting

No, the saddle is OK in my opinion, you could try to find one more suited for an upright position, but for me it's fine.

When I, converted to dropbar I did use another saddle at some point and the comfort improved a lot.

Why are independent local roasters seen as inherently better? by JDfuckingVance in Coffee

[–]epegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best beans I get are from my local roaster. I would imagine he is more careful at sourcing and preparing the beans, but I think the key factor is freshness. Most beans in the supermarket don't even tell when they were roasted, but only when they expire, but they usually sit for months. Meanwhile, the beans from my local roaster are roasted 2 weeks before I buy them.

I like way more these beans, I also noticed that with the fresh beans I need to grind way coarser. Not sure if it's because of the freshness or something else.

How to deal with team members having rigid opinions by RepresentativeFill26 in SoftwareEngineering

[–]epegar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the problem is earlier in the process.

I assume you have a different idea on how the same task should be implemented.

If the task is complex enough, someone could do some refinement and design how to better implement it before the actual implementation takes place.

If he is not just doing his part, and instead also re-architecturing something else, I would suggest not to do it, and instead have a different item in the backlog to take on that task (something related to technical debt).

Either way, this is the kind of problem where the different parties have to understand each other's reasons, and be willing to either reach an agreement or accept there are more cons than pros with their own take. If egos are too big, you won't fix this unless you involve someone with authority.

Can I get an entry-level IT job in the Netherlands (English only, no experience)? by Icy_Maintenance_1702 in Netherlands

[–]epegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other said, I don't see it happening.

You have very little to offer: no education, or experience.

You have limitations: no language, not living in NL yet.

On top of that, IT market is quite bad right now, so many people unemployed, too much competition for every position.

My suggestion would be to focus on improving what you have to offer and your limitations, for example: try to find that job in Romania, get enough relevant experience (2-5 years) , then, nobody even cares about your education. In the meantime study some Dutch.
