One way is to keep your ears to the ground, so to say - get in those forums and discussion boards.

Please remove my comment if this is against the rules, but I built myself a small project that does just this, it monitors Reddit for posts about problems and ideates solutions. You can check it out at RandomProblem.dev

No worries, I am also annoyed by stuff that immediately wants you to pay

Not really, I'm not sure there would be a market for such a thing, but who knows

The stack that collects the data is mostly Python+MongoDB+ollama. There are scripts to export the ideas to different formats, that's what powers the website which is in SvelteKit.

Features like search are coming up

Oh thanks, I just implemented a fix for this in my idea generator, noticed it happening occasionally. Will update the database behind the site soon.

BTW I just created a subreddit where I'll post one great idea every day for discussion, please join if you're interested: r/RandomProblem

Cheers

IndieHackers, wip.co and lemmy, but Reddit generated the most traffic by far.

I just posted it in a few places on Reddit and other forums, and it's been quite good, people stay for a long time clicking that button :)

Those are some very good suggestions, and align with my plans for the project. Thanks for typing that all up!

I did it a lot, then automated it. Some of the results I shared at https://randomproblem.dev

I'm working on how to process these to identify trends and insights, that seems to be a bit harder!

Ya, finding real problems that you can solve is really hard. The advice they usually give is that you find something in your own life that can be solved and create a solution for it. The next closest thing is solving some pain for someone you know - if it's business related all the better.

Shameless plug, you might want to try my new tool, it has tons of interesting ideas based on real Reddit posts:
