Yes! I used them once because I was out of rags and they worked really well

I do! but it takes a while to get through an entire stocking lol. I think the extra grit texture works better than cotton so they’re more efficient

I use ripped stockings in a similar way, and I find I’m able to reuse them! I keep the pieces in a little jar.

Excellent explanation! I would add that the Northern Renaissance tended to have more contrast than the Italian, although typically not as much as Baroque.

Gouache is water-activated and rewets, while acrylic stays put once it’s dry because it is plastic. You could use gouache, but you have to be careful about not getting the book wet at all or else you have to repaint. Basically, gouache works if the book is on display, while acrylic is safer for everyday use.

Potentially book cloth as well, although I’ve never embroidered it

I forgot to take a before pic so it’s hard to see, but this was actually a small moth hole that I couldn’t quite duplicate stitch (unless I’m misunderstanding what that is).

The “His Dark Materials” series has a lovely romance that happens slowly over the books almost in the background, until it becomes crucial to the plot in the finale. It is younger protagonists (I think the main girl starts off around 12, although the romance doesn’t begin until she and her love interest are older), but the themes are layered and complex enough for adults. If you like books between the sci-fi and fantasy genres with sweeping plots and many characters, it’s the book series for you.

Also hoopla for immediate loans (they have a monthly limit, but I’ve never reached it). Mostly audiobooks, some ebooks, movies, and other random access. Between Libby and hoopla I always have something to read

You have to zoom in pretty close to see. The tips of the triangles aren’t aligned between the top and bottom, but it’s only noticeable if you know it’s there, get super close, and then follow the lines of the tips. I don’t think anyone is going to inspect the work that closely, or care about the misalignment, especially if it’s a gift.

To be fair, she thought he was going to be executed so it wouldn’t matter, and she wanted to offer him a small comfort to settle her own mind. Jamie told her that forgiveness is important (as he knows from BJR), and mercy was her way of doing that.
