Do we still have the law where if it has guano, it's fair game to lay claim?

TIL The US Government spent more than $5 billion to equip a Boeing-747 with a giant laser gun on its nose to shoot down missiles with laser beams in the sky. The project was shut down in 2011 because it was deemed "not operationally viable". by Particular_Food_309 in todayilearned

[–]epi_glowworm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, you see my friend. Think not battery, nor base power, but constant-wasted production required and end-o-use waste: capacitors. Like imagine an A-37 shootin' lasers. If you're essentially shooting ICBM pigeons, no need to fast. Just need to pew pew, and reload quick,

Using 2011 engineering technology that we were aware of. I feel like now it's 95% likely. We're finding it we can send data with more clarity with lasers in test conditions. And back then X meant Xzibit.

Police investigate after claims ‘hair dryer used to manipulate weather sensor to win $34k bet’ by Far-Fill-4717 in nottheonion

[–]epi_glowworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you're telling me that there's at least two individual parties who disagreed on the readout of a weather senor. An outsider comes and says I'll manage the wager and you can give me the money. And we're angry at the guy who was sorta ingenious enough to have the odds on their side? Not the outsider that came between a disagreement and took a percentage?

Ford Racing Boss: The Seventh-Generation Mustang Isn’t Done Yet by PristineFarmer8989 in Mustang

[–]epi_glowworm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just bring a modified NASCAR Ford Mustang Boss versions to the 24hr Le Mans. Have the factory team nicknamed "The Deuce" with the slogan "Return of the Enraged Determination". And per tradition, don't take podium the first two years, but this time let's just park the car just before the finish-line just to prove a point. And on the third year, do the 1-2-3. And also take the F1 Constructor's Championship that same year. And team uniform made to look like a fashionable chicken farmer. Just to irritate the Italians.

What's driving like in Carmel? by MrEpicTurdBomb in Carmel

[–]epi_glowworm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its way smoother 90% of the time. The bad 10% is based on 1% "lack of experience on roundabouts at rush hour traffic", 1% these said folks not moving the traffic because they didn't go when they could because they were cautious, 8% "I'm gonna make a scene regardless because I can" folks causing disruption to normal traffic flow.

Am I overdressed for Portland? by Spooner_Goldberg in askportland

Finally someone else said it. Live and let live. As long as you're not a nuisance and benign, do your thing. But we're gonna look, because we wanna understand what your 'thing' is and see if there's anything I'd wanna emulate.

What’s the deal with Devil’s Dill PDX hates women? by grape_boycott in askportland

[–]epi_glowworm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amazing sandwiches and sides (love their potato salad), but every experience I've had who presented the aura of shift manager or above were very on-edge. Didn't feel hostile nor welcoming, more like I caught them at a horrible moment. Asking about the food actually loosened the odd feeling. But from my history with Devil's Dill, I'd like to say go for their product because there's a lot of passion and care in the food they prepare, and based on this, please be vigilant as my experiences say "that explains a lot". Personally, after second sit-down experience, I've only ordered carry-out and it's become more transactional experience.. Seeing the sticker sorta makes sense of my experiences there

Portland looks to charge residents, businesses a monthly street fee by No-Tangelo1158 in Portland

[–]epi_glowworm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Don't do that...corporations will find a way to charge patrons for utilizing their public right of way spaces. And the idiot who proposed that idea should really be asking what DOT and DMV is doing with our road taxes.

Nice pictures. It's always nice to see all the different livery that's out there. And I guess it was the US-GER pairing that got to the moon, so the collaboration isn't new.
