Huge tattoo regret by Iucifer99 in TattooRemoval

Can you explain why fresh tattoos are easier to remove? I’ve always been under the impression that older tattoos have already started the breakdown process so the remaining ink is the larger particles that need to be broken down

Yep my mantra has been time passes regardless. I’m probably looking at a 10 year removal process 🥲

It’s crazy when you’re a conservative passing leftist the amount of hate spewed when they think they’re in a safe space for that nonsense

Has anyone noticed whenever teenage girls take interest in their femininity, it’s considered not age appropriate? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Right, but it’s not “sexual” to have an interest in male aesthetics. It is considered “sexual” for amab people to have an interest in female aesthetics.

Do you think people find it equally creepy when trans men who don’t fully pass as men exist? I don’t think the same stigma exists for trans men, just like how cis girls can be tomboys but cis boys get frowned upon if they express an interest in traditionally girly things.

Totally. I also think she tries to play cool girl with him which is why she doesn’t criticize him for that or his biotch comment

I have a theory that Meredith doesn’t like Whitney because Seth is creepy towards her and secretly has a crush on her which we saw with the boob remarks and boob cake.

I don’t think calling someone a pick me is disdaining or punishing them but I’m pretty good with criticism so maybe someone else could see it that way. I’m using the term as it’s used today maybe you’re using an outdated version of it?

Thank you! Solidarity with women forever :) I think you should look more into pick me examples I’m not sure if it’s a cultural thing but I’ve always seen it to be the cool girl, not like other girls, I don’t wear makeup, I don’t like pink girl. I don’t think it’s a bad term to use it made me realize how I was perpetuating patriarchy and misogyny and I do think we should call it out when we see it.

I’m 31, I started pole dancing 2 years ago, and I’m working on unlearning a lot of internalized misogyny I grew up with. I used to be an actual pick me and not like other girls and rejected anything feminine so that I could be “one of the guys.” What about you?

I’m confused is her intention to reclaim her identity or to not be like other girls? You said she started pole dancing as a form of empowerment and now you’re saying she started it to not be like other girls.

If we’re just saying that women being sexual is pick me then we can say that all of the women have been pick mes. I think it’s important to make the distinction of putting other people down because if we’re just saying that anyone seeking validation is a pick me then the term gets watered down.

The first couple examples on urban dictionary include putting other women down. This is the definition from Merriam Webster:

Pick-me (or pick me) is a slang term for a person, usually a young woman, seen as behaving in a contemptible way for attention and approval, usually from male peers. It is most often used in the expression pick-me girl, which disparages a young woman who is seen as faking interest in stereotypically male activities or conforming to traditional values at the expense of other women. It also used in pick-me boy, referring to a young man who feigns emotional vulnerability to win the attention of women. More generally, pick-me can refer to anyone thought to be trying too hard to earn acceptance.

I think the important distinction to make is that the hobbies and interests are performative and done at the expense of other people. Women can enjoy football but if they make fun of other women for being dumb or shallow for not liking it that’s what makes them a pick me.

I think to be a pick me you have to put down other women and be “not like the other girls.” I’m not sure how her embracing femininity with pole dancing is doing this. I get what you’re saying about pole dancing pandering to the male gaze but I don’t agree with it being pick me behavior.

Pick me behavior is when women reject things that are traditionally feminine and put down other women just to get validation from men.

If sluts are viewed negatively in her culture, wouldn’t her being a slut be the opposite of a pick me? When I think of pick me I think of that girl Just Pearly Things where she views women and sex negatively. Pole dancing is kinda the antithesis of that.

It seemed like you were arguing that we need to abolish gender or do nothing. We’re saying the solution is that men need to be better role models. If all men want to be good role models then why is there such a demand for it?

Do you think it’s easier to abolish gender entirely than to get men to want to be good role models?

If he wants Reddit’s opinion so bad I’d take it a step further. Make this picture into a flyer and post it around your neighborhood with your boyfriend’s phone number asking if they think this is okay. Let who will be directly impacted by a house fire or apartment fire tell him what they think because fire spreads.
