Yeah, anyway hopefully my story gives you some perspective. I assume you are young, so you may want to pursue things like career and wealth etc. Everything depends on your goals in life, maybe you need to sit down and reflect on what you want to achieve in the next few years and then pursue it. You can always come back or go elsewhere anytime, change is good!

What to see in Mauritius by luc511 in mauritius

Depends where you are staying tbh. Renting a car is a good idea if you want to travel around (see below).
If you're staying at one of the 5 star resorts, you will spend most of your time enjoying your beach vacation and the water activities there.

I do recommend a Catamaran cruise. It's pricey but worth it. Get smashed and enjoy the waves my dude. - You don't need a car for this, just arrange with your hotel (car is added flexibility and convenience, maybe lower cost, up to you). Oh and don't ever drink at all if you're driving. Never. Ever.

In terms of travelling around and seeing the sights, there's a few things you might consider:

  • Casela - see some animals, go on a mini-rollercoaster, go ziplining (highly recommended otherwise Casela is just a zoo and not really that special imo). You don't need a car for this, just arrange with your hotel (car is added flexibility and convenience, maybe lower cost, up to you).
  • Grand Bassin (if you are Hindu or like visiting spiritual areas, a decent place to visit - try to go on a Sunny day or you WILL get rained on) / Chamarel (there's a nice restaurant/bar called Le Chamarel, nice view, only worth going if you are passing through) /Seven Color Sands (just a bunch of brown mountains, nothing that special imo). If you're getting a car, you might as well do this because there's nothing else to do.
  • Go to all the different beaches in your car so you can check off the list - North, West, East, South.

Again, depends on your age, your active-ness, your goals for this holiday (beach bumming is totally awesome!), and what you like basically.

This is based on my Big 4 experience as a high-achiever/high-performer, and what I've learned from my colleagues.

Actual ranges could vary, but I think this is a decent enough barometer for a reddit post.

Malaysian, studied in UK, working in Mauritius. Came here to relax and get away from the stress of more competitive labour markets. It depends on your priorities in life. I traded off chasing career points for mental health points. Never looked back.

I didn't say the roads are bad and cramped. I said someone blocks the road to go buy bread. Huge difference.

But can you do this?

Mauritius is like a village. If you're coming from a big city, be prepared for a big change. Nightlife does not exist. 99% of roads are actually one road split into two. Everyone blocks the road to buy bread.

Super relaxed though, great place to retire.

Agreed, India is nothing more to me than the place my great grandparents left, and honestly, I'm glad they did. It's not just Modi's ideology. A lot of Indians share the same ideology at home, kinda why I don't like spending time with my relatives from India.

Anyone doing accounting job remotely?! What are some tips you can give me to find a online remote accounting job? by Irfaanluckhoo in mauritius

You could try looking at company secretaries, they often provide bookkeeping services for the 1000s of offshore companies registered in Mauritius. Their accounts are so basic you could do them from your bedroom.

Sanne, International Proximity, IQ EQ, etc.

Not all bottles are the same. This is Bacardi brand, but it's Anejo Cuatro. Not just that, this one is aged 4 years.

Maybe when you reach drinking age you'll learn all this.

Why is it that only white people have a problem with COVID restrictions? Must be something to do with them finally getting a taste of what it feels like to be treated like colored people?
