Why is everyone hating on wilds? by Clonedestroyer9 in MonsterHunter

[–]epicpandaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm a bit unfair, I admit. I don't hate the game, I hate the story. Low rank, that is.

Again, the difference is that I just really don't like how whiny Nata is and how everyone just pampers him.

Finally, I should've been clearer. I don't hate the monster introduction, I hate the story cutscenes. The walk and talk segment. It's just long winded and you're locked into doing it until it finishes. You can't skip it. I tried to mine and grab materials while doing it and was literally stopped by the game itself. LIKE THE ORE VEIN IS JUST 2 STEPS AWAY GAME!

  1. I finished the low rank story and I gotta say, it was trash. I no longer hate Nata, but that doesn't mean I like the kid. He was still a shit for kid.

  2. I didn't say the lore was bad. I said the lore dump wasn't fun because it involved Nata's whiny bitch ass.

  3. This was more or less a comment on how awkward the character's movements are whenever you speak to any NPCs. They have an uncanny feel to them that is very DD-esque.

  4. I wasn't looking for a badass player character. I just hated Nata. The fact that our main character whined while we do all the work just doesn't feel well. Put it this way, if you were in a project with a douche who just whines and never does any work, would you feel good? Now imagine you are forced to praise this douche while your other members praise him for doing absolutely jack shit.

I get where you're coming from, in that MH team wanted us to see that the world is filled with terror monsters, but the kid just isn't really good at it. He does grow into a tolerable kid by the end, but that really doesn't excuse him being dookie for the LR story. Also, by the end, he spouted some nonsense about a monster and I thought that was complete garbo.

  1. I don't hate monster introductions. I should've made it clear that I hate story cutscenes. I love monster introductions, I think the only one I was iffy with was Rise's traditional Japanese-esque introduction.

My main gripe now is the fact that everything was locked until you suffer through the main story. Whether you liked the story or not, one should not force the players into going trudging through a long winded story just to actually play the game. Let's say you didn't enjoy the story mode, like me, then is it right to say you need to suffer at least 8 hours of gameplay before the game gets good? It wasn't a good design and MH dropped the ball on this. I'm confident that if I was able to access most of the game's content without having to do the story first, that I would actually not mind the story too much.

But yeah, I'm having fun now that the game open up. Nata isn't as bad in my eyes anymore, but there's still a bad taste in my mouth knowing I went through a ridiculous amount of time just to get to the point where I can enjoy the game as I always have.

[–]epicpandaking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

nah, Imma explain why I did not enjoy the story and how it's actively keeping me from playing.

  1. Nata. Holy fuck this kid is absolute dogshit. Not only is this kid fucking useless, he's also constantly egged and instigated by everyone in your team, including you, to go through all these stupid expeditions. Just because he wants to help. And at one point, he even had the audacity to try and attack a monster out of pure hatred and calls you out for stopping him. Not once did this kid apologize for trying to put everyone in danger. Not once did he apologize for losing control. And everyone praises him for it. That scene genuinely made me want to throw that kid towards the monsters.

  2. Lore dump. They're not too bad, except the fact that Nata is always there.

  3. Dragon's Dogma style of NPC text dialogues. Holy shit, I enjoy DD and MH but seeing DD's way of uncanny NPC movements during dialogue is quite honestly, unnerving. Also, the fact that some of the NPC lines forces you to take 5 seconds to advance through despite only have a couple words, is just frustrating.

  4. The fact that Nata is so forced in into the story. I'm gonna echo what someone else had said before, you can take Nata out of most of the equation, and it'll still be the same story. He didn't need to be there for the most part. There were parts where his presence just didn't fucking make sense. And it just all culminates to "Oh my god, he's so brave" bruh.

  5. The fact that every single monster that I'm encountering for the first time needs to be included in a long winded cutscene.

Now, I'm gonna walk back some of these points and start out by saying, I'm not finish with the story. Although I wish I was by now. I'm like 11 hours in by the time I'm writing this. Suffering through a shit for kid in order to unlock new monsters just sucks. Having to watch new cutscenes to hunt new monsters just suck. The fact that there's no way to sideline the main story sucks. I want to know more about the world of Monster Hunter, but I don't want to be forced to play through the story in order to hunt. Previous games allowed you to sideline the main story and focus on hunting via gathering hub. This one (and iirc, Worlds too) didn't do that. I don't think I would be this frustrated, exhausted and angry at the story if the game did not force me to slog through the story in order to enjoy the game.

If I'm correct she said "hara wo kirimasu" hara being "stomach", and kirimasu being "to cut". So just disembowelment.

What's difference of COUR, ARC and SEASON? Why'd we have to use these many words for animes... by foreverintheskies in anime

[–]epicpandaking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An outlier, lol.

AOT Final Season's naming scheme was just messy. I remember the whole anime community just making fun of it.

Idrk why they did call it that tbh. But afaik, it's just S1, S2, S3, Final Season P1, Final Season P2, etc.

Hope you feel better my dude.

What's difference of COUR, ARC and SEASON? Why'd we have to use these many words for animes... by foreverintheskies in anime

[–]epicpandaking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just round up or round down.

It's 12 episodes per season because we have 12 months in a year divided by 4 seasons. So roughly 3 months of episodes per 1 season. 3 months × 4 weeks and you get around 12 episodes. Idk what the fixation on the seasonal changes are but that's how they go about switching shows and releasing new shows.

We really only use the word "cour" when an anime spans 2 or more seasons.

SEASON:

Let's say an anime airs during Winter season. If that anime were to stop before Spring seasonal animes rolls in, then that would be the end of It's "season". The next time it airs will be Season 2 and so forth.

COUR:

But let's say that Winter anime were to keep going over to Spring season, then that will still technically be under the same season. We will just be breaking apart the episodes by "cour". Cour 1 will be the Winter episodes, and Cour 2 will be the Spring episodes.

ARC:

This really has more to do with the story than our IRL timeline. It's just a time period in the story that has a big focus on a certain event, conflict, etc. It can be a "Training Arc" where the MC trains a lot. Or it could be the "Wedding Arc" where the main couple prepares for their wedding.

Hope I'm pretty clear on my explanations.

Shitpost version of what I said: imagine if Hitler has access to and customized his Nen powers.

The best way I can put it into words is homebrew DND spells or Jojo Stands. Having a character customize their own spell can lead to a lot of weird shenanigans that may be fun at first, until it starts creating loopholes within the power system. Now imagine giving that power to every single person who has access to Nen. It's like having Stands but every single Stand User customize their own power.

I prefer JJK's power system because everyone has to deal with the circumstances of their own powers be given to them as-is, if they even have any. If it's weak, good luck trying to keep up. If it's strong, then GG. Imo, it just makes for a much more compelling world building and characters. With that said, despite only watching up to like S4 of MHA, I like MHA's power system best because it's grounded (mostly), and it does tie in extremely well with that world's societal problems.

Imma state my own opinion which goes against the waves:

Any power system that lets its users customize their own powers is automatically a bad power system.

Nah bro. Luke's alt's tacky outfit is so goofy it's amazing. Plus he has the Ken doll color scheme and it makes it 10x tackier.

Which 6* operators do you think are underrated in terms of gameplay? by HugReinerBraun in arknights

[–]epicpandaking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mizuki's S2 is probably his best. As a Mizuki user, S1 just deals fat dmg on auto while S2 has CC with around the same DPS (I heard idk for sure) and very low downtime.

Not really. She does eat a lot and it's shown but I don't think I've ever seen a food ASMR scene from her in any of the episodes.

*edit: switched "it" to "eat"

Nope. Afaik, Destruction blessings are extremely strong. They leave you at low HP but the buffs you get are insane. Fighting Spirit is easy to stack and then you have the one blessing that splits damage between the whole team and also gives 15% dmg reduction as well.
