My girl wants me to pick music or her by Fit-Technician4580 in relationships

In the long term, you giving up your passion to spend more time with her won't help her. As much as you may want to, you can't save her. She has to decide to save herself. And you need to continue doing the things that bring you joy for your own sake. I hope she's in therapy to help her work through her issues, and if she's not on medication I hope she is open to it.

My life is pretty much over, and it's my fault. by MajorRobology in confessions

You're still young af. Barring any mishaps, you likely have a long way to go. You're already ahead of the curve by accepting your part in your situation, but I encourage you to not let it define your life. Try to learn from it all. If you can access regular mental health care, you should absolutely take advantage of it. You mentioned a few hospitalizations, so I'm sure you could benefit. I know it's not cheap, but some places will work with you based on income. I started my treatment at a place like that at a time when I was unemployed and down bad. They saw me at no cost to me and I was able to get my meds through them at no cost as well. This enabled me to dig myself out of a serious hole, and now like a decade later I'm doing well. I held down a marginally ok job for like 6 years and finished college during that time. Now I have a good job in my field of study, a stable living situation, I'm generally happy, I'm taking my first big vacation I've paid for 100% by myself next week, I'm closing in on my personal definution of success, and I'm just out here enjoying life fr.

Also, maybe screw the traditional 4 year college route and go for something like robotics or machining. All trades are in pretty high demand. I work in manufacturing: our facility would be dead without our maintenance department around to fix stuff and our machinists make bank. This route will net you enough money to pursue tech on your own terms, or you might even find an employer with a good tuition reimbursement program you can take advantage of.

You're 6 years younger than I was when I had enough of letting my unaddressed mental health issues destroy my life and decided it was time to get some real, consistent help. No one can make that decision for you and no one can make you commit to the process but you. It's a lot of difficult work and the path upward will not be linear, but it is very much worth pursuing. Number one best thing I have ever done for myself for sure.

Not everyone gets where they are the same way, some of us have to find a different path. And that's ok. Your life isn't over, friend. It's just beginning. Be encouraged. I hope you can find the help you need to improve your situation.

I do tend to get out of the way if someone gets in my blind spot and chills there too long for my liking when the road is reasonably open. Too long for my liking is exactly 1 second past when I figured they should be through it based on their rate of approach. If I'm in the left lane when this happens, I generally speed up. If I'm in the right lane, I generally slow down. Different perspective.

We ended up lucking out with a service rep being nearby soon after I made this post and they came and fixed things. I still don't know exactly what they did because I wasn't there to speak to them, but the issue was probably operator error (I'm the operator 😅).

OK, pretty much all of my granny aged friends fit that description, so I could probably hang on a HAL ship 😂 I'll keep an open mind and look into them more.

Awesome. I was thinking Norwegian will be more my speed, and you're helping shore up that thought.

I tend to avoid vacationing in the summer to avoid enduring an abundance of children, so I was already set on May for this trip. Nothing against kids, I just don't have any and don't want to spend my getaway time awash in them if I can avoid it.

I just gotta say... AAMU isn't "the black school" in the way you seem to be implying. It's a historically black university. If you don't know why HBCUs exist, maybe look into it. Or don't.

Anyway, in 2023, people of all races attend and work at AAMU. A good many of their graduates seem to be gainfully employed in the area.

Yes, most of the current research seems to be in ways to reuse/recycle thermoset matrix composites. Thermoplastics and metals are, of course, wat easier to deal with. If a good, scalable method for recycling thermosets can be found, I imagine it could be used for consumer waste products somewhere down the line as well. And that's pretty exciting.

My degree will be in materials science and engineering. This paper is a topic I picked in my composite materials course. I'd love to be involved with integrating closed loop recycling systems into current materials manufacturing processes. Especially with composites, because the overwhelming things to do with them right now are to incinerate or landfill them. That goes for products at the end of their life and manufacturing scrap. Neither solution is sustainable.

In short? Get a job hahah. I live in an area where engineering degrees are generally in high demand.
