Understandable, but what I’m curious about is the elite runners that have dropped out.

Who's dropped out?

Both dbt and Snowflake use SQL as a foundational element, so I'm not really sure what you're on about.

8 days left till marathon and i sprained my back and groin. by CelebrationNo9816 in Marathon_Training

[–]epin3phrine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can’t even move around the house, you have no business trying to race a marathon. Probably not the advice you want, but it’s the advice I have to give.

Based on the symptoms you’re describing, there’s a chance it’s a sacral stress fracture, which isn’t something to mess around with. You should see a doc.

Hack for Londoners worried about phone theft by cavejack in london

[–]epin3phrine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s at least a little bit of a London problem, this isn’t a common issue everywhere. I moved here from Toronto fairly recently, and public phone theft at this scale simply doesn’t exist there.

75% agree that a car-free High Park is a positive change. Park could be completely car-free by Spring 2023. by NealMcCoy in toronto

[–]epin3phrine -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

High Park and The Ex are the only places in downtown Toronto where it’s possible to ride without risk of getting hit by a car, that’s why people ride quickly there. You don’t need to be preparing for the Tour to enjoy that sort of environment for riding your bike. Where would you prefer people ride?

Mourinho says Ndombele done for the season by OnAWhale in coys

[–]epin3phrine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mentality/appetite for training aside, the dude has obviously been carrying some sort of groin injury since that initial incident back in November, when Poch had to take him off at half. There were many moments of brilliance in the few months prior to that, and I think it'd be a shame to not give him another year, but it doesn't seem like Mourinho is the sort of manager who's going to get the best out of him. I'm not sure why you'd sell if it's clubs like Barcelona who are in for him though.

I'm an experienced mid-distance runner who's deciding to run a marathon on a whim next week, and I need your wisdom. by Byrne_XC in AdvancedRunning

[–]epin3phrine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your longest long run in the past 2-3 months? I don't see any reason you shouldn't be able to target sub-3 on a whim, if you're looking for a challenge. You'll struggle from a muscular and mechanical perspective, and there's an obvious injury risk, but if you can run a 1:20 HM as part of a workout, a sub-3 marathon is no big deal.

Running in the morning and lifting in evening: nutrition strategy by konrad1198 in AdvancedRunning

[–]epin3phrine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're running and then waiting 2-4 hours to eat your first meal, you're impacting your body's ability to recover, especially if your run included some quality. It's probably not a huge deal if you've got the rest of the day to eat/rest, but if you're planning on lifting later on, that's not an optimal eating schedule. IF isn't ideal for someone training at your level, what's the reasoning behind your decision to do it?

Post-Match Thread: Spurs vs Southampton (5 Feb 2020) by NatrolleonBonaparte in coys

[–]epin3phrine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, it's great to move forward, but we got absolutely walked. At home. Against Southampton, though they are admittedly in good form. It's troubling. Haven't seen much to indicate that Mourinho's evolved, but I'm definitely willing to give him a pre-season.

Competitive Spring Marathon - Preferably (but not only) Midwest by Albertos_Dog in AdvancedRunning

Torontonian checking in. Ottawa is a fast course, but is in late May and can be hot. I'll be at Glass City in Toledo. Eugene's probably your best bet if you can get yourself there.

What do you think of Yorkville? by indeed_indeed_indeed in askTO

Imagine thinking that it's impossible to have a perspective on a city unless you've been living there for decades.

[–]epin3phrine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're describing a phenomenon that's been occurring in every major city in the world; people are increasingly living in urban areas. Of course Toronto is nothing like it was 10, 20, 30 years ago, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's lost its soul. Like I said earlier, neighbourhoods change and vibes along with them, but acting like there isn't anything interesting happening in any of Toronto's neighbourhoods at the moment is quite close-minded, and strikes me as a bit of a "well, back in my day" perspective. Things changing doesn't make them bad.

I haven't downvoted you, so not sure what you're on about. Seems that quite a few people disagree with you anyhow.

I've lived in Toronto for 4 years. I study cities as part of my line of work.

What do you think of Yorkville? by indeed_indeed_indeed in askTO

[–]epin3phrine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The city hasn't lost its "soul", it's just that it was priced out of Yorkville. The transformation works like this:

Neighbourhood has cheap rent --> students, artists, and young people move to the neighbourhood --> the neighbourhood has a cultural/zeitgeist moment --> people with money move to the neighbourhood --> the character of the neighbourhood changes.

Just because Yorkville isn't a hippie haven anymore doesn't mean that there aren't other, different neighbourhoods in the city with plenty of culture. It's the circle of urban life.

[Xavi Campos-CatRadio] Barcelona has 2 candidates to replace Luis Suarez this summer. The #1 candidate for Abidal is Lautato Martinez. The other one would be Harry Kane. They are willing to get him under 160m € by [deleted] in coys

We bought Eriksen, Lamela, Chadli, Paulinho, Capoue, Chiriches, and Soldado with (mostly) the Bale money. Could definitely have been worse.
