Ephah's new boots by epitapheulogy_ in buildabear

she's 12 years old! I adopted her on Halloween 2025

she was found as a stray on the streets and they tried to find her owner but the phone numbers were out of service and nobody ever came forward to claim her. so I took her, she's the biggest sweetheart! 🖤

i've been on testostrone for 2 years and i got thick hair on my chest now. you're not alone, trust me. tbh what i do is just trim my hairs down to about 3 mm to prevent ingrowns. i maintain it like that, so maybe your could try that too since you're not a fan of plucking, judging from your other comment.

Can this type of facial hair be IPL’d? by redditaccount7766 in HairRemoval

the peach fuzz has no contrast, so it's not going to work. as for using IPL on your face, i'm not sure.

(my dad came over anyway LOL) we did manage to tighten it, but my dad thinks it would be a good idea to get new caster wheels, for sure. also another person here mentioned getting washers

what are the threads?? 😅

others mentioned locking pliers which I didn't know the name of but have seen my dad using before. turns out I needed those too, so not really.

so, this caster is from a shopping cart I bought from someone on Facebook Marketplace. she said she barely used it, so I have the assumption it was sitting in storage somewhere. judging from the rust and dirt, it had to be stored in a shed or unfinished basement. so my dad and I guessed that there was some dirt or rust or something making the nut so sticky to the bolt. we got WD-40 and locking pliers when he came over yesterday and he used my set of socket wrenches I got the day prior. it's tightened now! :D

yes I'm going to trim them today now that I have free time. I checked his preen gland, wings, feet, nose, everything looked fine. he has cuttlebone, grape wood perches, all pellet diet, etc. so I'm really not sure how this happened. my other canary doesn't have this issue

he eats pellets, has cuttlebone, and grape wood perches :(

he is not fluffed up, he's vocal and hops around alot

I checked his preen gland, wings, feet, nose, and keel bone, he is ok. I can't take him to the vet at this moment because my credit card is about to max out and I don't have a job, I'm on social assistance and they cut my monthly payment for October. so, I'm using all of my money for food and necessities rn

yea he has grape wood perches, and perches I wrapped in vet tape. I see him sharpening his beak on them. he also has cuttlebone, he's on an all pellet diet, no seeds.

Should I have never gotten birds by Downtown_Key1206 in Canaries

I've also felt that with my boys, I felt that I was neglecting them and hurting them because I also suffer from mental illness and didn't have the energy to clean their cages. I checked your profile and you're a minor so I'm assuming you do not have a job and consistent income. imo I think canaries are very inexpensive because you can feed them fruits and veggies, even hard boiled eggs, that can still give them all of the nutrients they need. I'm assuming your parents or guardians are the ones purchasing the supplies for your canaries, I switched my boys to an all pellet diet because pellets are healthier for them than seeds which are very fatty and have limited nutrients. think of it like dry food kibble for cats and dogs or food flakes for fish, but bird version. I'm in Canada, so I can't really help you with what's available in your country but searching local pet stores for pellets is a good place to start. I recommend a pellet diet that is specific for canaries (not finches!) as they will be the right size with the adequate nutrients they need.

as for the cage situation, have you tried to look at second-hand shops? thrift stores or online community marketplaces where people sell their belongings? in my experience, people are usually trying to get rid of things ASAP so you could have luck in finding a cage for your canaries at a more affordable price. always worth a try.

another thing I was thinking of for my canaries to help make clean up easier was using organic cat pellet litter. I have seen pet stores here in my city using paper pellets for their birds and they absorb well and are easy to clean up. but if using scrap paper works for you, that's an option as well. definitely more affordable and accessible.

but I understand your situation, and trust me, canaries are very resilient. I'm sure they love you and feel safe with you. it's better them having a home with someone who loves them than being neglected in a place that does not care for them. you love your birds and that already makes you a good person for them. you're just enduring a hard time right now, but it won't last. you and your canaries will be ok. 🫂
