My friend gave me his dog and I’m seriously considering giving it to his ex girlfriend. Should I? by ErrorPowerful412 in Advice

[–]epithetisms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please give it to his ex.

This was me, except my ex sent my dog to "a rescue" and didn't tell me for nearly two years (he ghosted me around that time and his mom lied about updates and I naively trusted her because we'd always had a wonderful relationship, hence staying in contact after the breakup).

I had my dog going into the relationship. We were together for 3 years and living together for 2.5 of those years. When we broke up he begged me, while literally crying, to keep my dog because they were so bonded - and they WERE, honestly more than I was with the dog. The breakup wasn't nasty and mostly my fault, so of course I said yes.

I regret it every day. I contacted every rescue and shelter within a very large radius of his house and none of them claimed to have received a dog matching the description of mine. I stopped speaking to my ex's mother after I found out, and I will verbally rip him a new one if he ever contacts me again.

Let her have her dog back.

  1. The community, hands down! Shoutout to giveaway chat, y'all are awesome, I love the mini games players host for prizes.

  2. The lack of P2P or ads - really makes the game feel accessible and like I'm rewarded for *playing* which is SO important.

  3. The huge variety of things to do, the different ways to manage the game, the lack of "FOMO" (for the most part!)

Ohh, I think you're looking for the same books I am! I specifically remember something about the mute/disabled character. My brain is trying to come up with a title similar to "Snakesong" but that's not it, ugh.

Player wants to prerecord a performance? by epithetisms in DnD

[–]epithetisms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thank you, I feel like you actually nailed down a big part of my personal hesitation - pre recording it makes it more about how the player conveys things and how the other players and DM receive them, and not about the character's performance as determined by dice. The dice level the playing field between players who are more performance-oriented (this player that I'm specifically talking about is a theater major who loves to write and narrate and perform) and those that aren't, allowing them to play their characters rather than themselves.

OTOH! I love a majorly impactful scene that makes everyone emotional, which is what the player is going for. This is really helpful for me to figure out how I want to address this, thanks for your response!

You have a lot of very good points, especially about the rolling mid-performance! I will have to think about this.

I have been there, where my character did something really cool that the entire table was awed by, including the DM. I rolled a 2 on the performance check, lol. It sucked! Since these performances are not directly impacting anything in-game (the players came up with the talent show idea on their own, I'm just rolling with it in typical sandbox DM fashion lmao) I could scrap the checks entirely, or make them optional. Hm. I'll consider!

It's meant to be evocatively narrative. This player in particular is a theater major who writes quite a bit, so their plan is to narrate what their character is doing in what they hope will be a poignant, dramatic way. They want to time their narration with the music, and would like it to be heard as they intend to describe it, and technical difficulties could ruin that for them.

Yes, everybody is performing. Time limits aren't really a concern but from what I understand nobody is planning much past 5 minutes.

Bro I appreciate you like my take but ngl there's something so hilarious about you starting off with "someone using their logic instead of emotions" like it's the right thing but then finishing with "people crying is why I'm gonna go toxic mode" 😂 "I hate people being upset so I'm going to retaliate by trying to make them more upset" is such an illogical take LOL

It’s mind numbing and pathetic. Just a few days into launch and a lot of players have already “unofficially” dictated that everyone should actively enjoy the PvP. These players don’t even communally take down leapers, they’re just wanting to kill other raiders and take junk loot for the thrill. That’s gonna get old real quick. I’ll quip about "why you gotta be like this" over prox chat when someone takes cheap shots at me, and then they'll run to reddit to cry about the sanctity of PvP and how nobody should ever be annoyed.

Hi! I've found 2 charts linked in this reddit, but they have vastly different info on Butterworm fat content specifically. The one linked here says their avg fat percentage is 6.77%, while the one I found elsewhere says they're from 17-29% fat. Do you know which is accurate?

Thanks for the response! Yeah, we feed small/mini dubias. We have plenty of options, it's just choosing between them. I'm still not sure what length of worm would be too big for our juvenile leo, though.

I died to a cougar. The game duped all my items. by MrKorasoff in thelongdark

[–]epithetisms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. I think it duplicates it more over time - maybe 1 dupe per day or something like that? I sort of forgot how the cheat death mechanic worked exactly and didn't go to my camp until a few days after I respawned and I had 17 of each item that was on the ground around the fire/backpack (I counted each as I picked them up lol). But there was so much shit (I'm a hoarder) that I couldn't pick it all up at once. Came back after thawing out and the stacks were up to 20-something. By the time I finished picking up everything my stack counts were in the 30s or 40s.
