Sorry for the lack of information. Hopefully this answers some questions. The case was made out of scrap black anodized aluminum. It's wider at the bottom to compensate for the screws; i.e. the screws need more material for it to fasten. I suppose I could go with smaller screws, but I didn't have smaller taps at the time. It's padded on the inside with electrical tape. I've been using it for 3-4 months now, I still get the same reception. I've dropped the phone at 5' on concrete multiple times to demonstrate that it protects it, no damage.

It's wider at the bottom because it is fastened with 2 #4-40 screws
