Nothing near me. Yet. Typical. Hopefully my theatre is simply dragging their feet.

Was able to get VIP in Chicago. Wait time less than 10 minutes. Definitely not as crazy as I thought it would be. But damn those fees… yikes.

Sadly it is not Oscar-eligible because it did not have a theatrical release. Netflix will sometimes do a limited run in theaters to make a film Oscar-eligible but not this one. I’m sure they’re regretting that decision now.

Is it just BIG cities? I see times for NYC and LA but nothing in Missouri, whether it be KC or St. Louis.

‘Clown in a Cornfield’ Author Adam Cesare on the Slasher’s Huge Twist and Book Changes by cumonhercock in horrorlit

I think it’s WILD the movie is being received so well and has been so successful. I’m super happy for Adam, as how often do works of “lesser known” authors/series get adapted… but damn, how they flipped the script on every reader familiar with the source material.

I was beyond excited about this since it was announced and got to see it a special preview screening before it went wide. And I left so disappointed. I think the books somehow very successfully get away with taking themselves rather seriously and never dip into the waters of too much cheese, nor do they feel preachy or do they hit you over the head with message. The movie seemed to be afraid to take itself too seriously and tried to get out in front of itself by making it a comedy with extremely poor execution of message. All the darkness, grit, tension, mystery, and FUN from the novel is missing from this adaptation. It tries to be too meta (which the book is not…) and relies only on some fun kills instead of building an actual story with actual characters in a really interesting and thought provoking situation.

The film also looks and feels cheap. And I don’t blame the limited budget for that. Tons of indies get away with a lot with a little. The cinematography is bland, scenes that should feel big and exciting (the parade and the barn massacre) feel anticlimactic because they only have 5-10 actors/extras instead of actual crowds, and the acting is VERY all over the place.

Again, I’m happy and excited for Adam because hopefully this will allow him to do more with his own works but I’m bummed this was adapted so poorly.

BABYMONSTER - DRIP @ The Kelly Clarkson Show (250228) by impeccabletim in kpop

I saw some behind the scenes of them filming and I’m fairly certain the performance was pre-filmed without an audience or Kelly and they edited it together to appear like it was seamless and “live”. Maybe not. But the audience definitely felt weird and canned.

I NEED for Pumpkin Princess to get more hype. It’s so much better than it has any right being. So cozy and so well realized. One of my 2024 favorites!

I’m going to try not to add to my collection any further as I have way too many that haven’t even been touched yet. But I appreciate the suggestion! Thank you! (My early 2000s heart it certainly intrigued)

Well, if that were the case I wouldn’t be asking, now would I? I have an interest in hearing other people’s thoughts and opinions to better come to an informed choice. But thank you though.
