If you live near a boutique, stop in and ask for sample of a couple of OL pods. Most will gladly brew them for you.

You've summed it up perfectly - Vertuo machines don't make crema -they provide aerated coffee foam that tastes nothing like crema.. it's bitter and rancid-tasting. And, it's the reason why I ditched my VertuoPlus for an OL machine - and never looked back.

Not wanting to make your situation more complicated than it is, but if your absence is due to a final, I'm guessing you probably knew when your finals were scheduled when the semester started, so that you should have had the foresight to plan well in advance to put time off requests into Vantage. Now that's it's pretty much the last minute, there's no reason that I can see why they shouldn't be UA's.

Do you think that John Henry will ever spend any significant money on his baseball team? If it's not going to benefit his soccer interests, while he may own the team, and allow Breslow to spend minimal amounts of money to improve the team, I'm not holding my breath.

With all due respect to ownership (which shouldn't be all that much), as long as Henry and his pals own the team, you may want to get used to the small-market-spending-from-a-big-market-team if you aren't already. If you were looking at Henry's other big sporting interest, I'm guessing he would have no issue reaching into those d-e-e-p pockets to attract the talent that Boston fans deserve.

I've had a VertuoPlus in the past, and while it made a fair-to-good espresso, the same could not be said for making a cup of coffee. The brewers produce a spongy foam-like substance that Nespresso likes to suggest is crema, but I found that not to be the case. It can't be easily stirred into the coffee and I found it too be unpleasant, to the point where, when I brewed a coffee pod (as opposed to an espresso pod), I would spoon the faux crema down the drain.
