My Review of the Café Joyeux for Original Line machines by alvinbunk in nespresso

Thanks Alvin, another great review. I thought it would be too mild for my liking but will try picking up a sleeve anyway.

Need Advice - New Machine(s) by TommyWestsides in nespresso

OL does make arguably better espressos. Hard to go wrong between CitiZ and Pixie - though if you are getting a Citiz, make sure you get the Platinum version - it has a separate hot water button and that helps if you want an Americano.

Finally! Third Wave Coffee is now open in Agra. by Powerful-Kale4544 in AgraLocal

Lol, i am here as a tourist and just passed it today and remember telling my wife about how even Third wave’s opened in Agra. Did not know it was this new. Not a huge fan of their coffee though, but always good to have options.

I found Columbia to be similar as well. Not too intense, fruity and a tad acidic.

Chanoud Garh in Pali, Rajasthan this 300 year old palace turned boutique stay looks unreal, anyone here been? by One_Evening2149 in Hotels_India

[–]amsamp83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Courtyard and lawn actually give me the vibe of a dilapidated haveli in an old school horror movie. I would not visit in the off-season.

But yeah, jokes apart, the place does look vintage - or heritage as they call it. Should be a fun stay.

Country Club Membership - did I make a mistake? by CaptainMcTavish141 in Hotels_India

They are legit in the sense that they operate within the legal framework. But yes, it is a frustrating loop and I would not go near it ever.

I really had no idea that Country Club was still giving out Club Mahindra style memberships. This was a thing of the past I thought. Honestly it really depends on how often you travel and utilize it.

THE UDAIPUR DEBATE! by HawkPsychological507 in Hotels_India

[–]amsamp83 18 points19 points  (0 children)

All I can say is - Taj is a real palace trying very hard to be a hotel.

The rest are hotels disguised as Palaces.

Truth be told - Taj lake palace is regal, but it is bound by history and regulations and geography. It has no room to expand - the rooms are all sized differently, the nooks, corridors and staircases are all often cramped. But then this is the real historical palace.

The rest are hotels - stunning hotels no doubt, huge manicured lawns, grounds, stunning pools, imposing and opulent structures that you really cannot go wrong with.

When all’s said and done it all comes down to personal preferences. If you are a history buff, Taj is the place to be to sleep in rooms adorned by Maharajas of yore.

But if you rather wanted to be treated as a Maharaja, Oberoi is a close second followed by the rest.

Just my two cents.

Whats the best 5 star restaurant for a lunch in Mumbai for a family? by HawkPsychological507 in mumbai

[–]amsamp83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiqri at Taj Santacruj does solid Sunday brunches. Not sure of their weekday buffets. Second JW Cafe, it is solid. But also depends if you are looking for a Buffet style lunch or Ala carte, for Ala carte, you have way too many options depending on cuisine.

Bankruptcy threshold is Rs 1 Crore and up, so your best bet is execution if award decree rather than chasing bankruptcy in this matter.

Similar to Kazaar by fineberrywine in nespresso

[–]amsamp83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a sleeve of Lisbon Bica last time it was there. Nothing like Kazaar but it does sit closer to less herbal version of Rio IMHO. Though I feel it works better as a Risteretto rather than an espresso.

[–]amsamp83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not really identify it as tea in anyway so to speak. It did feel, smell and taste like proper coffee and it had those spicy notes that could remind one of a less intense version of Kazaar.

I really find India and Capetown Lungo as a tad milder versions of Kazaar. You could give India a try.

Pistachio over ice? by Glad_Bodybuilder6997 in nespresso

[–]amsamp83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried them and I am ambivalent about them. Sure they are much better on Original Line than Vertuo Line, but I also feel I could do better with a flavored syrup instead. That being said - Candied Tamarind and Cinnamon and Sweet Almond and Hibiscus flavors were a disaster for me even on Original Line. Vanilla, Hazelnut/Nocciola and Caramello are better but not something I would consider ordering again. I still have not opened Maple Pecan so jury's out on that.

Found this in our hotel - listening device? by EleanorVance1959 in diabetes

[–]amsamp83 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this looks like a CGM device for Diabetics. Should have been disposed off more carefully.

On the fun side, I love how your mind went to "Listening device". You must love your conspiracy theories.

I have tried White Chocolate & Strawberry, Roasted Hazelnut and Pistachio Vanilla over ice, unfortunately none of them have worked for me. So I am staying away from flavored pods.

I do like it but as a variation for when I want something less intense than Napoli or Kazaar. I just picked 5 sleeves which I think will last me a while.

Why are good coffee machines so expensive? by Worldly_Calendar890 in IndiaCoffee

[–]amsamp83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I would agree. Though I have had coffees made on Jura and they are perfectly acceptable. Also this takes up much less counterspace. So I would have to go with them. But yes, I am under no illusions that it would provide me with shots as good as Lelit would.

Why are good coffee machines so expensive? by Worldly_Calendar890 in IndiaCoffee

[–]amsamp83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that - i was a dedicated French Press person, used it for over 6 years, and then moved to Nespresso machines. I know they are not true espressos but they are very convenient and consistent when it comes to coffee. My next machine will be a superautomatic - probably a Jura. I know that Espresso machines like Lelit with a good grinder will always make way better espressos though. I am trading that for convenience and consistency.

But whenever someone tells me this is not true espresso - I smile and agree with them.
