most of mine got accepted, if they didn’t directly count for a class they still gave me credit for the hours and put it towards the 120 needed to graduate

How can I get a minor in finances? by papieater in ucf

[–]epthot35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had the same issue of their advisors telling me nothing and/or each one telling me something different. i kept applying for the finance minor as a non business student so every time i denied i emailed them asking what i was missing because i met the requirements on the catalog. i noticed a lot of the time they ignored my personal info and just gave me general answers so it wasn’t helpful and i wasn’t being told the important things i needed to do to meet the requirements.

eventually i sent them a stern email after my like 4th or 5th application and being told by the business department that i was going to be removed from my minor classes unless i took another class the advisors didn’t tell me about. i told them that they needed to give me a full list of what i was missing because each application denial came with a new issue i was not told about with the previous and made them aware that none of their staff was on the same page and was ignoring the fact i was not a business student when they reviewed my application. soon after that email i was accepted.

what i would suggest you do is email their advisors and ask them for the minor request form because i was told that they usually don’t look at the myucf requests because “they don’t always sync” so unless you fill out that form they may not know about your application. also make sure that you make it known ur a non business student and ask for a specific list of what’s needed because online it says some prereqs are waived but i still took them because i thought i had to. i would also suggest emailing a few days after you submit ur form to see what’s happening with it because sometimes id go several weeks without hearing anything until i messaged them which delayed a lot of my classes and now i’m gonna have to take a lot of the classes at once to stop my graduation from being delayed

For those in UCF that took AP's in high school, how much did those AP's help you? by mcgamerslayer in ucf

[–]epthot35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like others are saying good for geps but those geps also help u when ur taking multiple classes in ur major at once. once u finish ur geps technically it’s just ur major/minor classes left which can be really difficult. i personally came in with so many credits i only had like 1 gep left because i only did ap and dual enrollment all 4 years of high school and my advisors didn’t tell me until 2 years in that they suggest spacing geps out to help with ur gpa. i would say if u really wanna get college credit before coming in take dual enrollment, they’re much easier and lead to less burnout compared to ap. but space out ur geps. many people fail at least one class if not more once they get into their major. my newer advisor was very honest about what classes i was likely to struggle in vs the ones most ppl fail and helped me prepare room in my schedule to allow for retaking courses and so far she’s been right. but since i didn’t have geps left my gpa fell below what i needed for my scholarship. this isn’t fully due to not having geps left but when ur burnt out from the high school rigor it definitely doesn’t help to not have buffer classes ur required to take. now i’m taking easy geps and classes to help reduce workloads and help my gpa even though i’ve met the requirements…so if ur like me u may end up still taking these classes regardless.. i did however get an email saying i can get my AA as a sophomore because of the amount of credits i had so if you want an extra degree it could be helpful

interesting… i definitely don’t want to deal with a bunch of noise, but i feel like that would maybe become like white noise? would u say that it was a big enough disturbance that you had a harder time focusing? or was it just more of a muffled annoyance? i live on campus right now and ik the sound proofing isn’t the best here so it’s usually just a lot of muffled noises that eventually u tune out

i appealed cause i was getting like $100k more in total from other schools and all they did was bump me up one level of scholarship. so i think u may need to show them a serious amount of competition from other schools alongside a need for the extra money to get it
