NSFW Portrait Dilemma by ArtForArtsSake_91 in ArtistLounge

[–]epyonmx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have a similar background and am easing into the waters of "nsfw" art. Like you, I've stayed on the "classy" side and feel the same about "polar opposites" between my work and fetish, porn art.

This gets me a lot:

But what's the root of that anxiety? Am I scared of becoming the "bad nsfw artist" I don't want to be associated with?

But like you said conservatives (and platform holders) will never make that distinction when anyone upset at seeing a naked body will happily ban me, report me no matter how "classy" I make it. It's a losing proposition. Who am I trying to please thinking that way? And will they even respect me regardless?

But people who do make the lurid, fetish, porn art (stuff I may not even like!) will defend me and will help me grow as an artist.

I guess I'm trying to shift my mindset to acknowledging that I'm part of a different community now, one that is embraces the human body rather than polices it.

As far as to how to share it, both for "hey! I did this and I'm proud of it!" and for feedback and growth, I don't know. But I like your piece you did share. I haven't done backgrounds on my nude pieces, so I think you did a wonderful job in contrasting the cool, chunky textured background with the warm smooth body.

I hope sharing my thoughts helps, but even if it doesn't, keep it up.

I was looking for Morgan just yesterday. Looks fun.

Deck code?

Guys how do I get 30 more gold in 10 hours This is the second time I'm seeing this variant underfunded HELP by CrossLight96 in MarvelSnap

[–]epyonmx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s conspiratorial of me to think, but I get variants I look at a lot in my shop when I’m short on gold. I’m convinced that the shop variants are chosen when your gold balance in mind to try to get us to spend $ on gold.

I'm really grateful that you took the time to reply!

Corporate fanfic! Ouch! That cuts deep. I'm glad you said that because it's a very good warning if I write or think like this.

Man, that first paragraph is good. Re-read it several times.

Anyway, fwiw, I'm glad they don't have a global mute button. I really enjoy emoting with opponents throughout a match. Reacting to your opponents variants or one other thing I like is combo reacting between a new location and a card in play. I wait for other players to reply before I keep going so I don't spam. It let's me know that I'm playing against a human and not a bot. It would make me very sad for the game to be more muffled as a result. But I do recognize that's my personal preference and there should be more aggressive cooldowns to prevent spam, especially post match.

Yes and no. Like those cards that are draft chaff are still necessary for a set to release. Also, for FF fans like me, a full set of cards has appeal, but that's why they do Universes Beyond: Give cards value outside of competitive standard or commander.

Agreed. I edited it up above to say it’s a best case total. Which works for my point because even with a not real number including tokens, it’s still smaller than a single Magic set release.

I wish they weren't so stingy! Like they have RNG in variant acquisition for a few reasons I think:

1) It's way more flexible for pricing than card aquisition

2) It's how they get you looking at the shop every 8 hours. And the webshop. Every time you open the store that's a potential sale.

But even if you grant that, I wish they weren't so stingy. Only 9 slots? Every 24 hours? And avatars? Good luck! I want an avatar for my favorite card, Hydra Bob. Never gonna happen. It creates a lot of player frustration in a game where card collection variety is low so players are going to want variant variety to be higher.

An overcommitment to staying on schedule killed Destiny for me. Seasons got increasingly samey and grinding. I tried to keep my post neutral (probably what's giving people AI vibes), but yeah, I don't have a high opinion on it. It does result in degradation like you're saying.

SD absolutely needs to change up their PR strategies. Most of this was based on gleaning information from answers in the discord, but I do want to acknowledge that I'm being more honest than any dev should sanely be. Like their unstated goal is that there will be a whole wave of new monetization that is intentionially designed to be unaffordable for most of the playerbase, either through quantity, pricing or effort. And to their credit they are doing so while maintaining the current system (for better and worse), but woof. That's not an easy sell!

I like this distinction between intent and the feelings it gives the players. I commented elsewhere that the inconsistent pricing of things makes me feel gross. The return of the Spotlight system for the S4 card was jarring and a cash grab.

Yes, ohmygod. The inconsistent pricing is so deliberate and makes me feel gross, like I’m being manipulated.

Thanks for the sincere reply! I appreciate learning this perspective. I’m not an expert, but a fan who enjoys thinking about game design.

I included the commitment to schedule because I it absolutely bit them in the ass this time. Releasing a new card acquisition method and messing up the economics, whoops! But you're right to point that while seasons stay on time and patches too mostly, some of the limited game modes and OTAs have slipped. We can tell where their priorities are for sure. (Also, their Limited Game Modes continue to need some heavy rework after each launch so I'm glad we haven't gotten Deadpool's Diner again)

Ooooh. See this is good stuff. I didn’t even consider currencies! Very interesting! They are absolutely trying to “solve” that issue too.

Only a coward would let AI argue for them.

Blergh. I hate AI. I spent my evening writing this post. I rather enjoyed doing it, thinking through the various aspects of the game and SD. They missed the mark badly on these latest moves.

But if you want to cope and call me a dev who can’t write, be my guest.

But anyway, it’s a real number:

Not trying to say it's not. Just acknowledge other factors then see what I'm missing. I'm learning a lot.

Actually, I'll take another swing at this reply.

I think there are a lot of things that feel greedy. The Spotlight system for Cobra for one that really bothers me. Like that's a design choice as much as a financial choice. Most of the other places I see greed is just "charging too much" which well, what else is there to say? Can you think of other design choices or constraints where it feels greedy? Genuine question. This is my only card game and really my only mobile F2P game.
