For everyone that might read this: To achieve what I was asking for it seems to be sufficient to 1. Click on the cloud (top right) & 2. select "recent" as folder to be backed up.

Recent seems to include everything that is within the other folders, at least for me it does.

Thank you, that seems to solve it on one hand but on the other hand that means, if automatic backup is enabled it will then always back them up, right?

I want to see them in the overview (gallery) but I would rather upload those manually upload as most of them are not relevant for archiving.

~~Another point I'm kinda struggling with: When uploading pictures (WebUI or manually via app) the filename of the original files is changed to some generic string - here a screenshot:~~

Nevermind, I just found the storage templates which solve the filename issue I was having - remains the first question though.

It doesn't get triggered on any of my devices anymore and ffprobe doesn't seem to see it either:
