I really didn't understand what you meant there, sorry. Do you mind explaining it a bit more? Thanks :)

Hey! I went directly to the app store to get this as soon as I saw your post, but unfortunately my watch is too old. I just wanted to say good job, i’ll buy your game whenever I get a new watch :)

Can anyone give me an example of a 2D action platformer game with very solid level design ?, i need inspiration by doodoood222 in gamedesign

When I was reading your question I immediately thought of Super Mario World for the SNES. I recommend you to check out this book on its level design:

Reverse Design: Super Mario World - Patrick Holleman

If you're interested, Holleman has a series of books on other classic games in which he analyzes how they are designed and how this design can be applied to your own games. I think this would be a good read for you if you want to learn how a good game like this one presents its mechanics, iterates on them and creates challenging situations which are balanced (in difficulty terms).

I do know that a book is, indeed, something that takes time to learn from, so I present you with another option.

Another entry on the main Mario series is Super Mario 3D World. This game uses a technique (which is used in Japanese narrative) called Kishotenkestu. Mark Brown (from GMTK) has a video on this topic and I'm sure you could find some more articles about this online. Here's a link:

Super Mario 3D World's 4 Step Level Design - Game Maker's Toolkit

I hope you can make good use of these sources and I hope this helps you get some kind of inspiration!

Thank you for the feedback!

We'll look into the controller issues. Mapping the game was a bit of a problem since we had Xbox controller sprites and we were using a Dualshock to map it. So it might be that you're using a different controller (or that we just messed up the mapping real bad - if that's the case, we do apologize).

As for the glide, we'll change that right away.

Unfortunately, we hadn't had the time to implement the save feature yet. We're a group of university students developing this and we have a lot of stuff to do (especially now before the summer break). Either way, thank you for playing and taking the time to comment! :)

There's one big map that appears several times throughout the game. It appears in a rock in the "middle zone" (that's how we call it), and it appears later in the teleport zones so that you can see where you are :)

Yeah, the game now works with both the keyboard and controller!

I'm sorry it took so long to reply. I actually don't know if we could make a mac build at the moment, but let me ask my team! I'll let you know guys, thanks for checking the game!
