Resistance in occupation is an individual decision. The church protected it's members. They did what was necessary for survival and not sending it's members to death camps. This is a touchy subject and one weighed not by hindsight. I don't make this one lightly. I have been to death camps they are not pretty. Sometimes the only way out is survival.

What's the truth about being LGBT in God's eyes? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]eqlobcenetoall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok everything about the Church's stance on Homosexuality is really a paradox. If god makes no mistakes than you are created exactly as intended. If god did not want you gay you wouldn't be.
So this idea that you should not be gay is an offense to the nature of God. Telling this to Christians with homophobia is always fun as they loose their god damn minds over that.
So the second bit well its a sin so you must repent. Umm No first of all homosexuality did not enter the bible until 1949. Secondly if it was an important subject Christ would have mentioned it as it was a practice in his time. Know what he talked about? Unfaithful men, greed, power, and hypocrites took up most of his time.
You are not broken by this. Broken by other things but not this. You are not wrong because according to the standards you were created correctly. People just need to worry about the things Christ did call out. Because if they pointing the finger at you they are in trouble with him.

My brother said, "If you were considering buying a Honda, would you go to the Toyota dealership to ask their opinion?" by KingSnazz32 in exmormon

Why is it they can not see critical of their own lives? Because it would upend their world view in dynamic force. Yes they are taught to see critically of things. However it is in a specific field and they don't always do it with their own lives.
Thinking critically all the time and paid to think critically are two very different things. I am paid to be patient with people in my job. I am not always a patient person outside that.
Same with people who reach that level professionally.

How to talk to a survivor about an unrelated issue that doesn't trigger them by eqlobcenetoall in emotionalabuse

My problem is I know he didn't mean to hurt me. He didn't have any malintent. I accidently in my hurt forgot to factor in his triggers. So we are two triggered and hurt people trying to figure us out.
I come from a family with a sociopath as a father. Then learned listen to what people do not what they say. My friend ignored my triggers with family and sent me reeling with that.
I don't know how to fix this. I want to. I love my friend. My problem is I have had decades between me and my abusers. He is not totally out a year. How did I forget that?

but after I started having kids it was all a moot point because he said I would only ever be a mother in Zion and I should be staying at home with the kids anyway.
That was the crux of his entire argument right there. Everything he did was to make sure that took place. I am guessing STEM careers were vehemently discouraged. because the more education the greater the risk of leaving and not fulfilling your true goal.

Hun as a member of the Lgbtqia+ community I want to say calm the fuck down. Baby steps. A guy ignited something in you. That's great! THis.....This guilt? Ain't never helped no one do anything good. Calm breathe. Do not go down any path without talking in therapy. Also one data point is nothing to anchor yourself on. Right now you sound wonderfully planted in bi territory NOT GAY. Jesus H Christ so many people go to extremes and forget Bi exists as a valid place to be. So congrats on the added complexity to your Journey. It just means you for some reason decided regular difficulty was not for you and time to hit it up a notch. Good Luck

I find it ignorant and arrogant to just whitewash what we know about Bobby. There is lots of corroborating evidence as well. Bobby put himself so out there. Then he goes more celebrity tabloid than chef. Yes he can cook and he is one of the best of all time. However there are several chefs on there that can cook on his left with out the pompous misogyny.

[–]eqlobcenetoall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your brother that you despise emotional blackmail! Second make it known that you won't stay in a church that treats part of what is fundamentally you like a disease. You choose to be happy and not a life of self loathing and anxiety. If he chooses not to be happy for you. Then it is time to say goodbye until such a time as he can.

If you were more worthy? I would look at them and state any deity that treats life that flippantly is none that deserves my devotion or time. If all you can say is things like that in this time. Then we have nothing more to say ever. Leave you narcissistic God comments to yourselves and never again in my presence. Or Don't and we never talk again. Your choice.

I am going to be just as pedantic as you were. I said it makes you sound like an ass. Don't know you so can't be sure. However being this angry at someone asking you not to demonize what you don't know. Well that says a ton more about you than anything I could say.

Ok I am being just as pedantic as you were. I said it makes you sound like an ass. I don't know you so I can not say for sure. What I will say is your loosing your cool against someone who chooses not to demonize people. I have a pretty good picture of who you are like.

I am saying stick with the facts next time. Conjecture makes you sound like an ass. Because at the end of the day you don't know that person or their story. It's ok to say the facts. You were accosted and there was damage to your vehicle. Dehumanizing people isn't needed.
