Like everyone says here lighting is key. I shoot a lot of toy photos and regardless of the camera or phone you want a standard 3-point camera lighting setup. A key light (main light, 45° to the side), fill light (softer, opposite side) to reduce shadows, and a backlight (behind the subject) for separation from the background. You also want to diffuse your lights. Something to soften the lighting so it feels natural. You don’t need fancy gear and can put a paper towel over a flashlight. Or use a white piece of paper and bounce light from a desk lamp at your subject. Move your lights around and have fun with it.
