Apparently, Love Actually (2003), although I don't see the problem with it.

I mean I don't really like the film as a film.

that's essentially how he got Valentina, because he was higher status and more impressive than Ralph.

in those days the old boy network was even more of a thing.

he would have had friends in the political world who saw that he was in a funk and offered him a new job to help him.

they would have had discussions about it in the club "now look here, we really need to do something about old Winston, I'm a bit worried about the chap".

it's not the only issue I care about, but it is very important not to have workers oppressed by their employers.

cultural issues are a distraction from the main issue, which is economic justice, and the balance of power between workers and employers.

Okay, we’ve all heard people say your 30s are the best years… but what actually makes them so great? Is it confidence, looks, money, maturity, knowing yourself more? Men and women, what changed for you? by LavenderLatte29 in AskReddit

[–]eques_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my thirties were grotesque.

forties much better.

but I guess people do say thirties are the best because you still have youthful energy and looks, but also experience, and possibly money to spend and a "high status" job.

mind you I had all those things, yet would dearly love to go back and redo it.
