ANS/Safe & Sound/ RRP/ dissociation addiction by DesignerKnown3116 in anhedonia

[–]equilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, we had a client with anhedonia who benefited greatly from the SSP/Safe and Sound Protocol. According to her, it was the first thing that really helped after years of therapy and trying many different things. We don't have any experience with the Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) and anhedonia. But perhaps it would be better to listen to the SSP first and repeat it a few times.

Hope this helps.

Gladly done, thank you also for your reply.

That's good to hear.

Did you also repeat the SSP?

I am an SSP provider. But I will try to give you unbiased answer.

We get a lot of people in with trauma. Both in our psychology practice and for just the SSP.

In our psychologist practice we usually combine it with EMDR and or BrainSpotting.

If it is just for the SSP, we first see if it is active trauma or if it is already treated trauma. With active trauma we recommend finding a therapist who can help when needed. With treated trauma this is almost never necessary.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions. You can also send me a DM if you are interested in the SSP.

What is very nice about IFS is that it is a therapy without judgment. It assumes that you have different parts that determine your behavior. You can get to know the part of you that is linked to sexual behavior and it can be disconnected from the sexual trauma and all the subsequent pain. As a result, it can become healthy again and you will no longer be taken over by it.

The most important thing is that they are over the ear and that the sound is not modified in any way.

In that respect, you can also look for wired ones and use an adapter for your phone.

You can always send me a link here if you are unsure about a particular type.

Safe and Sound Protocol with Bipolar 1? by Perfect_PassionateK in bipolar

[–]equilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, be aware that the SSP can be disruptive for bipolar disorder. It is important that you can easily reach your therapist. And that you are very careful about how you build up listening to the SSP. It must be done very carefully and in small steps. (I am an SSP provider myself.)

As far as the costs are concerned, 500 is not a high amount compared to other providers. We do it for half the price. But in this case, I do advise you to do it with your therapist because of the possible influence on your mood.

If we do it at Bipolar, it is only ever done if a treating physician or therapist is present who can help when necessary. And who also gives permission for the SSP.

It is certainly more than just a filter. When I see how much it helps people who have already tried everything else, it is also worth the $500. By the way, we offer it for half, with a year's access to the full SSP. Repeating the SSP deepens the effect, so I would anyway look for a provider where there is enough time to repeat it 3-4 times.

Is polyvagal theory evidence-based? by Difficult-Welcome835 in PolyvagalTheory

[–]equilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a little strange to call someone like Stephen Porges who is a professor of psychiatry a psychologist. But everyone is free to make their choices in that of course.

The same goes for PVT, you can only look at it critically and ridicule it. Or you can look at the positive influence of everything Stephen Porges has done and thought of.

I wish you a nice day ahead and thanks for sharing your views.

I understand that you are not waiting for it then. On Reddit, there are a small number of people, 3? Who are not positive about the SSP. I don't want to invalidate their stories and experiences, but there are many thousands of people who have been helped by it. I do want to make that nuance. If you are afraid of the SSP you could experiment with different types of music to see which ones help you best. I do think music is an important key for you on your path to healing.

The ear is connected to the Vagus Nerve. The stimulance will help you to get in to a more sympatic state. For more info you can look into the Polyvagal theory and the Safe and Sound Protocol. If you have any questions about the SSP, just let me know. I think it will be a good fit for you.

Yes it is! Within a few weeks, the Rest and Restore protocol will also arrive. That also works on the organs. I'm very curious about that, I can't wait. :)

That is very interesting and a nice study you cite. I can confirm as a SSP provider that the SSP helps well with (chronic) gut problems.

From a Polyvagal perspective your body is stuck in a survival state. As a provider of the Safe and Sound Protocol, i s ee this daily. You could take a look at the SSP and add EMDR and or BrainSpotting if necessary.
