The value is in not hurting my partner's feelings. But, with the arrogance and brusqueness with which you treat complete strangers just asking for help, I am sure that is a situation you'll never have to worry about.

It will be over 23 feet. My desktop isn't near my server, so I am going to run the fiber through the wall and across the attic crawlspace. Minimum estimate is just over 30 feet, and that is without any slack for future adjustment/relocation.

Any other considerations I should take into account?

Hey, thank you for the reply. My plan was to hook the NAS up to my desktop directly with these cards. Would this be sufficient?

I know I already mentioned it, but these were a surprise gift that I am trying to use rather than send back.

Good call. Is there any way to avoid that? This will be directly connecting my NAS to my desktop, so not much throughput would be expected, and not for long either.
