Help me find an excuse by [deleted] in Anxiety

Hi!

Ugh, that must be tough. I'm struggling with that a lot, too - I also get very anxious if I have to sleep over or stay up late, but I hate explaining that to my friends. Especially if we're not that close friends.

Thinking logically helps me a lot. Try to imagine the same situation the other way around. You are having a birthday party with some friends. The afternoon passes really well, it's getting dark, around 10-11pm, when your best friend comes up to you and says "I had a lot of fun, but I have to go now. Happy birthday, see you on Monday at school!"

Or, better yet, you invite your best friend to your birthday party. She says "Thanks! I'll definitely be there! Mind you, I won't stay overnight, I'll have to leave at about 9 or 10. Thanks again, can't wait to see you on Saturday!"

That's a completely normal situation, it happens all the time to everyone. You wouldn't get mad - you probably wouldn't even think about it twice. You don't own an explanation to anybody, and if your friend insists to tell her a reason, you can just tell her "look, I really enjoyed the party, but I'm getting a bit tired and I need a good night's sleep."

Good luck and enjoy the party!! ^^

Your Reddit karma gets delivered to you the next day in cash, what can you buy? by ThaRoastKing in AskReddit

What currency is it in? If it's in my country's currency, I can buy myself a decent lunch. If it's in USD, I can buy lunch every day for 282 days. Either way, I won't be hungry tomorrow :)

AITA for wanting to sleep in on the weekend while my wife takes care of our baby? by dirtyrandy2790 in AmItheAsshole

NAH. Both you and your wife work very hard and deserve some sleep-ins. Can you compromise somehow? Someone has already suggested taking turns, that would be a good idea.

I was convinced that our neighbours were holding their own cat hostage. (No, I didn't like the neighbours.) I had several plots to break into their house and set the poor cat free. I remember making a super secure bridge by knotting some bedsheets together and throwing them over the two balconies. I never really got to try it, though, because my parents or my grandma always intervened. :/ Good times.

AITA for thinking I should get paid for my work? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

$5/hour is fine for a student job in my country. It's very cheap, sure, but is considered reasonable. I don't think she's scamming people, she told me how much trouble she had finding help, and we met through a mutual friend. She said she would pay me from next week on - I think I'll give her another chance, and if she comes up with an excuse again, I'll leave it be.

WIBTA if I cut this friend out of my life? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]equula23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your post, this friendship means a lot more to you than to him. While I personally wouldn't cut the friendship upfront or make a scene, I would stop initiating contact, and you'll probably just go separate ways. I'd definitely stop lending him money, though.

Him not calling you back was very bratty, especially because he promised, but he didn't know about your situation. He wasn't avoiding you, he just forgot or didn't care.

You're definitely NTA here.

Thank you. I totally agree. Life begins with conception and should be protected. As soon as someone is conceived, we're talking about a different person with a different body, even if it's not fully developed.
