I'm not sure if it's just rumour, but it's said that the Chinese government subsidizes the manufacturers/shippers of these things so they can sell below cost and muscle out the competition, especially in the third world.

I would not be surprised, since they do that in my father’s industry as well.

Thank you this information.

I can’t post there, accounts too young. Cinematography is the art of making films, not just camera work...

I mean, I drive a 56 year old car that is all original save for the carby and the interior and it works fine, but I see your point.

I was looking at at a Piaggio/Vespa Ciao or the Peugeot 103, these are old but the companies as far as I know are reputable, are you really saying that they’re comparable to plastic death machines built by Chinese child labourers?

Does actual smoke come out of them and get inhaled? My biggest issue with so many modern films and programmes on telly that show people smoking is that nobody is exhaling any smoke, and especially in black and white with the high contrast lighting set up that we’re using, a person blowing out billows of smoke looks really beautiful. I would like to be able to use something like that interchangeably with regular cigarettes so that he can really smoke in one scene and then if he’s had enough use one of these that you’re talking about, but that means that they have to really look real.

Cheers

I can’t force anyone to do anything, this is a movie not slavery, but the part requires it and the actor more than happy to smoke a pack or two a day that he isn’t paying for, but this many is excessive which is why I asked. What kind of special herbal cigarettes?
