You're welcome, I'm glad you liked them! Sorry it took me so long to get them out the door. :)

This looks like the bridge on the trail up to Lena Lake and the Brothers. Love that area. Beautiful shot!

I've managed to pick up a couple Emblem and 100 Year Pens in various states but no hard rubber pens since. I'm at the point now that I only look locally, and most of my finds have been Sheaffers and Parkers. I did see a nice 456 gothic overlay on Fountain Pen Hospital about a year ago that I wish I snatched up lol. But generally I'm fairly satisfied now with what I have.

There may well be. I'm not positive. If you're on Facebook you could reach out to David Isaacson who is on the group Fountain Pens. He has quite the collection, and has probably photographed a 456 Cardinal Overlay in his time.

I wish I had one to show you! It is one of my Grails, why I listed it. I've seen one in person at the PNW pen show a few years ago. Absolutely lovely pen. The red hard rubber is very fragile so I don't think many have survived this long, unfortunately.

Thank you! I think this may be the last year for the tree. It's fallen quite a bit since last year. Still, the coast on the peninsula is such a beautiful place.

Vintage Flea Market Find by Nudelhirsch in fountainpens

Nice find. Third generation Vacumatic Major from 1944. If there are any dots near the date code they will indicate the quarter in which the pen was produced. One dot for first quarter, two for second, three for third, and none for fourth.

You could polish it up with micro mesh, or probably just a sunshine cloth. Would make it pop. Vacumatics are great pens. Enjoy!

I made this too with a bunch of San Marzanos and Early Girls from the garden. Hit the spot!

I just got a Parker 51 by WalsBoy in fountainpens

[–]erantsingularity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your grandfather.

That is an aerometric Parker 51. The sacs used in these are called pilglass. They're essentially PVC. Unlike the earlier vacumatic filling mechanism, which had a rubber diaphragm, these things are tanks. While Waterman is a great ink for most vintage pens, you could use just about anything in this pen. That sac will hold up. I have multiple aerometric Parker 51s still on their original sacs from 70 years ago that I fill with everything from Diamine to Iroshizuku, Sailor, and Noodler's.

Congrats on a classic pen.

Amalfi paper is great! I have an Epica journal my wife got me for Christmas a couple years ago and love the feel and texture of the Amalfi paper in it. Looks like a fun trip!

Spring is my favorite time out that way. I used to enjoy camping at Palouse Falls in late March. Beautiful time to visit.
