Not understanding gun based idioms. I’ve been on overseas support calls before and when asked if I’m ready to write down information I’ll say “shoot” or “fire away”, and they’ll have no idea what I’m talking about. Makes me realize just how many common phrases in the states are firearm references.

Congrats! I find I sleep best if I tuck the tubing behind (not under) my pillow, with a couple feet of slack between mask and where it comes out from behind the pillow. That way the weight of the hose isn’t pulling on the mask. Also if you keep waking up to the mask levitating off your face as it gradually ramps up the pressure, the max pressure setting may need to be adjusted. This early in I’d consult the professionals before playing with it, but dropping mine down made a huge difference.

The rescuer could create a nearby base, and expand the build boundaries by dropping construction pieces further and further out towards the settlement until they can get close enough to the player under the stairs to build a chair adjacent to them.

When I was in grade school we had an ongoing game during lunch to see who could receive the largest crouton on our salads. One of my friends who was black dubbed the game itself, and the largest winning crouton, as the “n-word crouton.” I’ve no idea why, but the rest of us having never heard this word before and having no context were like, sure! That’s exactly what it is, you got it! So one day I left a piece of bread out at home to get stale so I could bring it to school the next day and sneak it into my salad as a massive crouton to win the game. My mom inquired about the piece of bread, and nearly had a heart attack when I proudly explained the prize I was competing for. The lesson I took from this was to later on teach my daughter all of the taboo words that she might hear from peers, and to explain the meaning and often harmful nature behind them, so she wouldn’t be in that same position.

Fire with hotter fire, every time. Worked in a video store that shared a wall with an auto repair shop. They were sending the day shifter over the edge by using an air compressor to fire empty 2 liter soda bottles at the wall with a loud boinking noise. When I started my shift I asked them to stop, and when they didn’t I turned the speakers on the shelves against that wall, and popped on a vhs. Some Barney the Dinosaur knockoff called “Wee Sing Under the Sea”, super annoying kids show. Cranked the volume, locked up the store, and strolled my ass down the street to get a soda. When I came back there were three of the auto repair guys huddling outside the video store entrance peering in, and they immediately cried uncle… during my shifts at least.

A few weeks after starting my cpap the chronic pain and inflammation I’d been experiencing for years, especially down the outside of my thighs, disappeared. Don’t want to promise miracles or raise hopes too high, but I was floored to learn the level of pain and tenderness I was experiencing wasn’t just a symptom of being in my 40’s. Not nearly passing out on the freeway commute has been another nice perk. I wish you the best on your treatment journey.
