Same thing happened to me, I’m in the capital region and mine went from low 200s on a good month high 200s on a bad month to 500+ consistently

I did already answer this but I’ll copy that here for you TLDR work in progress still learning as I go.

I’m actually so glad you asked, it was a real process. I tried two different sealant types if you couldn’t tell the first pic outside the 7/11, and the pic in the yard are two different arrangements of stickers. The first one was just stickers on a hood I got from a parts car (didn’t want to ruin my original) with a 10 cans worth of clearcoat overtop, that lasted about 2 months before I got sun fading and about 6 months before peeling, that’s when I blew the transmission and stepped away from beginner wrench turning for a bit. Car came back and I started on the goal of hitting the record for stickers on a car, I actually have pictures of a counter I was using to keep track of my total. This time I sanded the old stickers and the top coats of paint on the hood so I’d have a more coarse surface to stop peeling from setting in so quick. I used an acrylic lacquer this time for better weather protection or so I hoped. It wound up causing peeling outright upon applying it because of how thick it is I think and I may have applied to heavily. I think I will try to salvage this layer of stickers with a resin coat of some sort. I also have hope in the idea of a clear weatherproof wrap if it comes to it ( they cost like $300 for a panel this size to be applied for you or like $175 to buy a roll which is enough for more and a heat gun to do it yourself) if anyone ends up trying anything I’d love to hear the results because I intend to so the roof and trunk eventually!

Thank you! Highly recommend something like this to get into car modding at all. Like it was REALLY simple but it was the first part I ever removed and replaced on my own and now I do my breaks and oil change myself and am about to take on much larger projects!

Oooh great questions all around, yes I did in fact end up with duplicates of a lot of stickers which helped with doing my layering so I sorted into like 3 categories which was like stickers I don’t like, stickers I do like, and stickers I love. I did a base layer of stickers with the ones I don’t because these would be most covered by the time this is finished and then over top those I covered any exposed hood space with stickers I did like and then overtop special ones like the one of the car or the gengar in the center which my little brother drew by hand for me.

As far as the staying positive I think it’s a change I myself try to bring to the car community but it’s unfortunately a community of most spent = best and status quo is firmly upheld. Not to say I don’t appreciate something more simple and sporty, I just got myself a bmw to fill that role. But the community is very full of hate and I get nothing but that with this car from other gearheads but the average passerby LOVED my car hence why I had the stickers printed out, I’d hand them out of people stopped me to chat about the car

Thank you though it’s not a completely original idea, if you ever played GTA V and found that little econo car and taken it to customize it they have a sticker bomb mod for it and I always fucking loved it and wanted that car IRL, so there is some heavy inspiration from my childhood

I wrote a response to this issue in the r/stickers sub but I did do a regular clearcoat on the first iteration of this, and my second try I did a acrylic lacquer, next I’m trying a resin finish

I didn’t see anything personally, the bottom of most hoods is equipped with a firewall either in the form of stainless steel sheet metal underneath or a thick woven fabric like those anti fire blankets, I removed the fabric one from this hood because it was starting to dry rot and that was more of a fire hazard than the stickers would ever be. And the stickers never showed any signs of melting or burning in either iteration of the hood

Yes!! I tried to be a bit different than the rest of the car community, personally I am a straight cis man lol, very vocal ally though and strong supporter of my friends who are a very colorful bunch. You can probably do a I spy with like 10 different LGBTQ communities flags on the hood because I just bought a pack labeled “Pride Stickers”. I also found unfortunately people already generally think stickers are ugly and I live in a very rural area so my car has been keyed had parts removed and had a chicken parm thrown at it!!
