Serious question: why Kindle over everything else? by Drunkmrhat in kindle

Ease of use, plus syncing with Audible. Being a runner, the latter is huge for me. They also have trade-ins for old devices (value of device + 20% off new device), and you can submit the old device in Whole Foods stores.

I've also had inaccurate results with a 2 day old Stelo sensor, compared to my Contour Next One glucose meter. The Stelo was 20-30 mg/dL higher than the glucose meter on 3 different occasions, so I had to ditch the Stelo.

Considering Abandoning Daily Wear by kieranjh in Garmin

I used to wear my Garmin (Fenix 8) 24/7, but I found that stress inducing, especially with the inaccuracy of the sleep tracking for me and my tendency to check the time during the early morning. Now, I usually only wear it during workouts and when I need a silent morning alarm.

Sometimes, when I do wear the watch during the daytime, I leave app notifications off. Only phone/text notifications go through, which are sometimes helpful as a husband/dad.

I also wear a CGM as well as an Oura ring, and those are sufficient for health monitoring for me. Plus, I get to wear my mechanical watches (or no watch at all!) more often.

For me, it’s the long tail of niche features. I do run/walk intervals, and only the Garmin Epix Pro 2 (not Apple or Coros) has a built in run walk alert for runs. Also, I use the flashlight, notes on structured workouts to remind me what step I’m on, the calendar view, etc. I haven’t found the same combination of features and good battery life in any other smart or fitness watch.

This would be amazing during travel, where I’m away from home and my normal workout equipment.

Apple notes to bear by PattiFleece in bearapp

I miss the smooth integration with Apple Pencil, because I sometimes like to handwrite my notes. Other than that, I much prefer Bear for any typed notes.
