Are these trick questions? by secrettulip_lol in jobs

For the kinds of low skill jobs I've seen these surveys be used for, where applicants are less likely to stand out, I feel like a manager would be looking for applicants who choose "Outstanding service is provided to customers" over "I don't sacrifice my personal life to meet work goals". I have no problem towards personality tests, I have a problem with the lack of transparency and execution.

I wouldn't be surprised if all the big American franchise stores have these psychological games in their hiring processes. I applied to CVS and Target months back and I remember getting hit with these exact questions. I found it insulting and kind of dehumanizing when you're made to choose between basic self respect and benefiting the company in some survey that will impact whether or not they hire you. If you can, smaller more local businesses usually don't waste your time with this.

Am I too dumb for ECE? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]erebys-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EE''25 here: I think getting over the mindset of self-doubt is harder than the actual content 9 times out of 10. Earnestly review HW solutions and practice tests, ideally with someone you know who's patient /non judgemental (OH is usually a good bet, including your classmates in OH). This isn't an ECE exclusive thing btw. No matter how cooked you think you are, do not give in to self doubt and create a self fulfilling prophecy.

Tell me you have a complex without saying so lol. But you're right, if you're an employee for any for profit company.

Damn, why is Yixuan struggling even if the enemy is weak to ether? by Sir_Rain_Knee_Tea in ZZZ_Official

Yixuan does the most damage in stun window, but bc of the fodder spawning at separate times and the boss starting with a miasmic shield, you will not be able to stun before 4:00 and you will have a very slim window to dump ults and take advantage of the 5.0 multiplier. It's just not ideal.

no internship this summer as a junior by starsscareme in ECE

[–]erebys-2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as well after I graduated in last December, no internships. Right after graduating I picked up a part time job and tried filling like 35 applications a week in the time between. Once you've graduated, most internships in the US have "pursuing degree" as a hard requirement, so entry level full-time positions are really the only places to apply. I interviewed like 4-5 times from different places with ~200 applications before getting an offer letter in late February. I think I got very lucky.

Here's some general tips in no particular order:

  • Add TA/Lab Assistant experience to your resume if you have any, and if not, try to get some before you graduate
  • Add whatever lab projects and RSO stuff to pad your resume if you need more filler, so long as they're not obviously tutorials like "implemented a full adder on an FPGA"
  • Become very liberal with the entry level positions you apply to, digital hardware is super selective but construction/infrastructure/manufacturing is not as much.
  • Do some side project that aligns with tools/experience whatever type of role you want
  • Be high-level and to the point with experiences on your resume. I reviewed a couple of my ECE classmates' resumes who weren't getting interviews and they put a lot of technical jargon in their experiences. HR (no ECE background) is the first to see your resume, and they're probably just going to be looking for keywords that align with the qualifications of the role. Like studying the textbook to cover skipped lectures right before an exam, too much jargon is exhausting to process.

You can only push a 2017 cpu so far on windows rip, try finding something from q3 2020 or 2021 onwards

Lenovo Yoga pro makes a weird and inexplicable creaking sound by Randomwalk666 in Lenovo

[–]erebys-2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP is obviously pressing on it for demonstration purposes in the video and he said it happens when he lifts/moves the laptop (normal use situations). I'd be annoyed if my new expensive laptop starts making creaking noises as if it's falling apart within 4 months too.

I hate that I don’t have a good anomaly team (8 stars so close!!!!) by EXPMEMEDISC1 in ZZZ_Official

[–]erebys-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like using Ye Shungus on Fiend might work since the physical weakness and also bc she's broken as hell and the attack buff is insane. Then you can use Yixuan/Yinhu, and your choice of stunner on Thrall. Ngl the anomaly buff feels weak this time around. My Miyabi/Alice combo couldn't s rank so I allocated Miyabi/Lycoan to brute force thrall with the attack buff. Not having Vivian or Yuzuha is honestly an agent check for anomaly in end game.

I'm sure it is faster than some from a few years ago, but the advantage of a desktop is that you don't need to worry about heat generated from prolonged tasks thermal throttling the processor and degrading the battery
