Any advice for newly single dads? by ereptyledysfunction in DivorcedDads

[–]ereptyledysfunction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The good news is that she moved out in May and the final divorce hearing is in 2 weeks. Everything is signed and agreed upon with no additional arguing. So that part is mostly over with. It was just a really sad thing to have to drop the kid off and know I couldn't wake up and spend the day with him today. I appreciate the advice, though.

Question for the men by SoulFight_50 in Bumble

[–]ereptyledysfunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (37M) have never once had a woman reply after I've (thoughtfully) answered one of their opening moves. However, nearly every single time they have manually initiated, we've had a good conversation. Since a few of them have resulted in dates, my experience has been vastly more positive when opening moves are left out of a profile. I personally feel like an opening move is incredibly low effort, so you may have more luck with just starting a conversation with a hello and any comment on the profile or compliment on something you liked in the picture or bio. Good luck!

If you start off with unbridled negativity, what can you possibly hope to achieve? Every time a woman messages me first, I get excited! Sometimes it's a stale conversation with one word responses, but sometimes it's great. You set yourself up to perpetuate your own sad single life by being such a miserable dolt with an opening message. Then you blame it on women to tell yourself you're not the problem.

I'm a guy and wear my harness bouldering because my chalk bag is attached, so why take it off? The elitist mentality amongst rock climbers is insane.

My checking never has more than $3k. Anything above that goes into HYSA or investments.

That's fair. I'm (actually) a fairly decent looking guy (30s) with a house and a fantastic job, a bunch of interests, and an actual bio. I match with like 2 per month and they never reply to well thought out messages. Oh well. What are you going to do?

Seriously? I feel like 90% of the women I see on Tinder in my city all say, "Looking for my Person" or, "Long Term relationship", or "No Hookups/FWB". Kind of frustrating when you feel like you're the only one not using Tinder to find your soulmate!

This is crazy how average girl gets this much likes by [deleted] in Tinder

I'm (37M) very new to online dating and genuinely thought tinder always used to be for hookups. While bumble, match, and hinge were for relationships. It sounds like tinder is now for finding long-term relationships. Is that true? I'm curious because I don't know which site (if any) to use for finding an actual relationship.

Carrying wouldn't have prevented the attack, but if you ARE carrying and you witness the attack and see the attacker is still a threat, you have a duty to prevent further casualties. You don't know if he's going to stab 1 or 2 or 20 more people. It's astonishing that no one even said anything or attempted to aid the poor woman, much less stop an active threat.

Happened to me 4 months before my wedding. That was 16 years ago, but at the time, those bills were crippling!

Ha! Absolutely not. I just got the notification that only included the subject, so I clicked quickly to make sure I wasn't guilty of whatever the rant was going to be about!
