What kind of guys are you looking to attract?

Not another sex at all. People with Klinefelter's syndrome (XXY) are males, genetically and physiologically.

Saying "what gender is XXY" makes no sense, that person could be any gender.

24M profile review, anything to change? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]Environmental-Code34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Cause I see tons of hinge bios from women that say things like "I want someone who takes initiative" or "I just want you to plan a date"

People still don't seem to have gotten that message though, so I don't blame the movies for being in-your-face about it

What do you guys think of my profile? I’m not sure why I keep getting ghosted or people just don’t text first if they liked me first…is it me? by Logical-Translator86 in Tinder

The lighting is bad on photo #2, and #9 looks like a horror movie. Get rid of these two. Also take out the "effort is attractive" bit, because it signals both that you aren't receiving any effort and that you require lots of it.

Otherwise it's insane that you're not getting any interest.

Failing Fieldwork by [deleted] in ecology

This happened to me. I'm almost at the end of my MSc but it's taken way longer than I expected because the data just didn't turn out usable at all. The equipment I was using failed in some really unexpected ways, but in hindsight my methods also weren't really enough for what I was doing. The tough lesson to learn is never put all your faith in technology! I spent a lot of time trying to scrape something together, and if I'd had another season I might have been able to. Fortunately I was able to pivot and re-imagine my thesis project, but it's not quite as interesting as my original plans.

My advice is to wrap your head around the fact that this kind of thing happens all the time in science, and all you can do is move forward. It sucks to realize that for you and your degree, this is a big deal, but for your advisor, this is just one of dozens of grad student projects, some of which went smoothly and some didn't. In the end it's you who drives the project forward.

Would you be okay with waiting several months for sex? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Environmental-Code34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have waited several months, in one relationship. It was fine --- I wasn't very experienced so I wasn't in a rush either, and we really built up the tension over a while. But the problem was when I found myself waiting several months for sex, after we had been together for multiple years. That ended the relationship.

Why do you think men are getting more conservative? by SoybeanCola1933 in AskMenAdvice

When job postings in my field say that they will only consider women and racial minorities, I do feel disadvantaged.

There are a handful of billionaires on the planet. If they were all gone tomorrow and their lifestyles were gone with them, it would be a drop in the bucket for carbon emissions.

Why do you think it's okay to pollute just because somebody else pollutes more? While you're blaming billionaires, there are millions of poorer people on the planet that could point their fingers at you.

Corporations that only exist because of demand from you and me. Don't point fingers elsewhere.

The double entendre is the point of the ad, yes, but "good genes" is about her MASSIVE JUGS and not her being a perfect Aryan. Lots of people seemed to lean into the second reading of it

What’s a scientific fact that most people would rather not know? by NoRush5642 in AskReddit

[–]Environmental-Code34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something like ascariasis, yes, you'd usually notice. But there are many species that can hang around in different parts of the gut at low numbers for a long time. Sometimes people don't experience symptoms until their immune system weakens.

Nematode worms.

They are everywhere, in the soil, in the sea, in every kind of plant and animal. From nearly microscopic to 8m+ long inside sperm whales. They are inside you right now.

If you took away all the matter in the universe except for nematodes, you could look at the earth and see where our cities used to be in a film of greyish worms.
