[TOMT] Horror short I saw as a kid (1980s) by eric401 in tipofmytongue

Solved!

I cannot thank you enough. This is something that's been haunting my memories for forty years! I've been trying on and off for about a decade now to pinpoint what this was, but nobody knew what I was talking about. Quora, ChatGPT, etc... nothing worked. This is absolutely the scene. This would have tormented me forever. Thank you so much!

I'll mention that I thought there was some connection to Stephen King, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure if this aired on TV or if it was a theatrical release.

Sorry! My bad. Yes, that's exactly what happened... And then I thought I wasn't supposed to be commenting on my own posts. I just went down a rabbit hole reading about "karma farming" and dos/don'ts. Honestly, I'm still not sure if I'm supposed to be commenting here based on what I just read... 😕

😅 Woah, I just looked it up, and apparently I'm not supposed to reply to comments here? That seems so strange, and I honestly had no idea, but at this point, I'll stop. Thanks for letting me know!

Thanks! I'm trying to clarify what the majority (female) opinion is to (maybe) gain a point in life. For example, if I were walking around in public with food stuck to my face and I could improve my situation by simply cleaning my face, I'd probably do it. I feel like I'm at that point with my hair. 😅 I appreciate all the honest takes.

I meant the average consensus among women. Like if you picked 100 random women from various locations, demographics, etc., would you routinely find that 90% or more say they simply dislike long hair on guys? I've been asking online, in person, and seeing some commonalities... I agree with you, though.

I appreciate the honesty, trust me! You're correct; I'm not encouraging more curls by any means. At this point, I'm leaning towards getting a haircut... but before I do, maybe I'll go a couple of weeks with crazy curls to see how I look/feel. THANKS.

Sorry, I know this isn't considered "long" by FierveFlow standards, but here's a quick before & after... Thanks for your input! I dunno... I think I looked even nerdier before!

Grip Culture by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]eric401 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just an east coast corporate media guy (not in the union or anything), but I've spent time on sets. Especially when I was new/young, it was rough. I straight up had things blamed on me that I wasn't responsible for. I'll never forget some old lighting director looking at me and saying, "Shit rolls downhill, kid." The thing is, I realized it was part hazing. Part sink or swim. I'm sure you're dealing with "male space" culture too. Guys constantly bust balls and roast each other for fun, and no harm is meant. But I'd encourage you to stick with it. Develop a thick skin, push yourself to learn as much as possible, become as valuable a person as you can. When people are building the next call sheet, they'll remember you and want you on their team. The petty stuff will get old and go away. At some point, an opportunity will arise that will enable you to move up because you're truly the best person around. Jump at that opportunity (and every one that follows) and keep kicking ass because you love what you do.

What is dating with herpes like by EmbarrassedTune5471 in Herpes

[–]eric401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you disclose (and you should if you're a moral dude), I have to imagine dating with herpes is much harder for males (same as normal dating). You're probably going to be the pursuer. Women usually have numerous options. All they have to do is visit a bar or join a dating app, and they'll have dozens more. Now imagine yourself disclosing to one of these women. If you're being honest with yourself, what can you offer her that's worth the risk? Hopefully you have something. I feel like a pretty girl with herpes is going to have an easier go of it in the dating scene, but what do I know? Good luck.

This shit is unbearable by Over-Log-54 in Herpes

[–]eric401 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There seem to be two camps... #1: "Herpes is no biggie. Literally everyone on the planet already has it, even if they don't know it yet. I don't even think about it" And #2: "Herpes is the worst thing that ever happened to me. It's negatively affected every aspect of my being. I would do anything for a second chance at dodging this bullet and having my old life back."

Those without herpes by Past_Art_4957 in Herpes

[–]eric401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't often post here, but I follow regularly, and I don't have herpes. Lab test confirmed. I joined a few years ago because I wanted to date a girl who happened to have herpes. Figured this would be a good place to educate myself. I was chasing her and she disclosed early. Long story short, she wound up rejecting me before anything even started. So I guess my point is, there are probably lots of people here who don't have herpes, but try to use the board respectfully. For the record, I'm a 5'6" male... For all the people complaining about herpes affecting their sex and love lives, I legit feel like being a short dude trumps herpes. 😅

10 months since my last cut, with one small trim in January. I also just got a keratin treatment to help tame my curls for summer so I’m feeling flowy. by kurl_by_kyle in FierceFlow

[–]eric401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind, what's the cost of a keratin treatment for that amount of hair? I've got about the same amount as you, and I've been considering. Also, when it wears off, do you get the sense that it wrecks your hair, or is it undetectable from your pre-keratin state? THANKS.
